There is always something growing, budding, and blooming in the city of Sevilla. My allergies have been running rampant as I work my way through my first spring and early summer in my still-new city. I’m hoping things won’t be quite so bad next year. But it really doesn’t matter. I’m not leaving. The clogged ears and stuffed head is a small price to pay for the beauty and magic that surrounds us. The streets, plazas, and parks are filled with a huge variety of blooming plants and trees. Being in our apartment this time of year is like living in a tree house.

I know what you mean. I walk by some houses and buildings and I'm awe-struck when they open the doors.
It sounds like all those hot days made the flowers grow which produced the pollen that makes your allergies kick up. Just be glad you don't have mosquitoes! Your "giant asparagus" is doing surprising things!

We are definitely low on Minnesota's state bird (the mosquito) here, thankfully! Can't wait for the asparagus to be in full bloom!
The last picture, is that the giant aspargus from a few weeks back? Now of course with stems for blooms…

As for word verification, that comes from Google and I have no control over it. I have the same problem when I visit other people. Sometimes I can easily read it, other times it takes three tries! Thanks for sticking with me.

I thought of you and Jerry today when they announced our forecast for this weekend: 108°F Friday and Saturday!!! I said, "What?!? Where are we, Sevilla????" We don't usually get THAT hot. Yuck!

We've been lucky and it hasn't gotten as hot as forecast (but still over 100). So sorry to hear what you have coming!
The tile work is just incredible here. Lisbon is even more famous for exterior tile work. I was there a few years before I started blogging. Will have to get back to take pictures. It really was amazing to see entire building facades covered with it.

I like your observation about living in a tree house. While we don't have the variety of flowers and hot-climate trees that you do, we are surrounded by trees and our main living space and deck is one floor above the ground. I've always said that in summer it feels like we live in a tree house.

The views you've shown from your house have been so beautiful and serene (even in winter). For us, the view is a huge selling point. Our little apartment in Irvine looked out on pepper trees and palms. Also felt like a treehouse and made the interior feel bigger.
I'm sorry to hear your allergies are running wild, but oh, what a beautiful place. I love the courtyard garden; of course I wouldn't want to share it with other apartments, but I am greedy.
Thanks, Elaine. The allergies are not as bad as they were. So no problem. There are some private homes that look like austere stucco structures until the doors are opened. Those courtyards are really something.

The 100-degree heat squelches a lot of the daytime fragrances, but the evenings are beautiful. The night-blooming jasmine just started up again and reminds us of our house in San Diego. Not a very attractive shrub, but the fragrance at night is beautiful.
I too am learning to love Seville through your eyes. Every one of these photos shows something of beauty….thanks.
