Dinosaur Loses Head / Dinosaurio Pierde Cabeza

La versión español está después de la primera foto.

OUR PAL LUKE had his third birthday on Tuesday and San Geraldo made him a very special cake. A chocolate dinosaur with chocolate buttercream frosting holding it together, and topped by more buttercream frosting, fondant spines, and M&M toes and ornaments. (Or as Luke says, “Nemahnems.”) It was charming and, of course, excruciatingly delicious.

You may not know this about me but, when I was younger (like until about a year ago), I would sort my M&Ms by color before I ate them. I would then eat them individually going from one color to the next, so as not to hurt the feelings of any one color. (Confession: The only reason this practice stopped about a year ago is because I haven’t had M&Ms in that time.)

Knowing how happy it would make me, San Geraldo asked me to sort the M&Ms.

  1. “I would sort my M&Ms by color before I ate them. I would then eat them individually going from one color to the next” – I STILL do this! I do this with skittles also! that cake looks so damn good!

  2. What you do/did to M&Ms I did to Skittles, like Anne Marie! Mine was a practical reason. Skittles colors are different flavors so separating them gives you the full taste of each. I did separate M&Ms because I wanted to eat the dreary colors first. I solved that problem by mixing them in with a bag of Fritos. Salty and sweet with each handful. Funny, I used to do that with Trix cereal. I’d eat one color at a time while listening to the others scream. That’s not weird is it?
That is just the cutest little cake to go with the cutest little boy!

Makes perfect sense with Skittles. With M&Ms, I’m just weird. However, I never did that with Trix or Froot Loops… although I did with Lucky Charms. And, yes, listening to the others scream might be about as weird as my not wanting to hurt the M&Ms feelings.

      1. Fruit Loops, gag! Now Lucky Charms was a whole nuther story. I’d eat the cereal and save the marshmallows for last. What a sugar rush!

  3. What a lucky little boy Luke is to have friends like you guys!
Yummy looking cake and a LOT of work! Nice!

  4. Oh my heavens! San Geraldo truly is a san… what a cake!
    Happy Thanksgiving, by the way!

(I wonder how many posts I will have to read before I remember to look over to the side for the comments click spot, instead of scrolling to the bottom — ha!)

He spent hours on that cake! What a guy. And I know what you mean about the comments. I do the same. And then the vertical spacing makes me crazy. I lose my place so easily. It’ll take some getting use to.
