A Sheepcat / Un Gato Pastor

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

I THINK MOOSE The Cat was a sheepdog in a former life because he’s constantly attempting to herd us. He follows us from room to room and, if we’re not in the same place, he finds the middle ground and yowls. Below is a photo I managed to grab before he moved. We thought the pose was hilarious. He seemed offended by our laughter. (Just look at that expression.)

    1. Jim,
The looks we get from these two. I’ve never felt so judged. Well, come to think of it, that was my entire childhood. GROAN!!!

    1. Bob,
I wish I could have gotten a better quality shop but, given the lack of cooperation, I’m grateful I got any shot at all.

    1. Willym,
I think I’m safe. First: He gets annoyed but he’s a gentle soul. Second: He won’t come anywhere near me when I sleep. I might swing an arm or leg and knock him out.

    1. Debra,
I’m so glad you notice that. I’ve been meaning to share for ages his one sock up one sock down appearance.

  1. As the owner of four (not at the same time) sheepdogs, I can tell you that they tirelessly do their jobs and never judge their humans. The only looks they give are looks of love, and sometimes confusion. Poor things.

But now, having a sheepdog AND a cat at the same time… I will often see the look on the cat’s face when the dog tries to do her thing. It says, quite clearly and with a modicum of disdain, GO HERD YOURSELF!

  2. Our grumpy has taken to yowling very loudly at rather inopportune moments, eg 2am, 4am, 5am, 6am, 6:30am.. we are not sure why this is happening but it is extremely loud and wakes us up from deep sleep. We think maybe she wakes up and is not sure where we have gone and is looking for us.

We’re trying some creative solutions, like carrying her to bed with us so she knows where we are at bedtime.. 😉 But she won’t stay with us, no matter what we try. She likes to be guard cat overnight. sleeping at the front door where there is a window she can look out and survey her vast kingdom.

She has always done this yowling in the daytime when she is looking for us, the night time yowling is new.. 🙂

Moose is a talker and, like Grumpy, he can start talking, muttering, and yowling all through the night. He yowls when he wants Dudo to play and Dudo is sleeping or ignoring him, too. Sometimes it’s obvious he just wants attention. Other times, we have no clue what he’s doing. And Dudo gives a look that says, “Oh would you get over yourself!” I’ve read that cats become more veral as they get older. Imagine what you have to look forward to!
