In The Mood / De Humor

ONE OF MY favorite things to do in Las Vegas is to watch the musical fountain shows at Bellagio Hotel’s 8-acre man-made lake. The shows start at 3 in the afternoon and run every half hour until 6, when they go every 15 minutes. I could stand and watch for hours.

We finally visited the Las Vegas Strip Friday afternoon. The first water choreography we saw was done to the tune of “In The Mood.” What we’re both in the mood for is a good night’s sleep and the end of our jet lag. Nine time zones and 27 hours of travel from our hotel in Las Vegas to our apartment in Fuengirola has taken its toll. We flew Norwegian Air through London’s Gatwick Airport with an 8-hour layover Sunday. So, we rented a room at the Gatwick Hilton for the day and had brief siestas and nice long showers. That helped temporarily. I’ve read that one should expect one day of recovery for every time zone traveled. Wake us up next Tuesday.

  1. THAT was a long flight!! Enjoy your respective sleeps/rest.
    Those fountains sound wonderful.

Tuesday night, I slept quite a bit; last night… a half hour. And I seem to have a cold. Not happy.

    1. Mistress Maddie:
I don’t LIKE Vegas, but some of the design and creativity is brilliant. It’s a place where status, flash, money, and appearances seem to be everything and it’s so easy to get sucked into it.

    1. Judy:
Wonderful being with Jerry’s family. Hard right now to remember the pleasure given the jet lag… and now a cold!

  2. The dreaded jet lag. The older you get the worse it gets. We’ve decided to stay closer to home (as in 5 hrs or less flights) this year as the last few trips we have returned completely exhausted then had to immediately work like crazy.

    1. Cheapchick:
You’re so right about it getting worse. This week has been awful. I slept a half hour at most last night and now have a cold. We agreed that we would never do a long trip like that again without a stop somewhere else for at least a few days. We do at least have the benefit of not having to get up for work. I remember those days!

  3. I’ve been to Vegas twice. The Bellagio wasn’t even built then. I just remember the city as being trashy by day and flashy by night. Get some rest, you two. I’m going to need a month to recover just from reading this!

    1. Deedles:
The first time I saw Vegas was in that trash-by-day flash-by-night era. It’s now got quite a bit of flash by day, too. But I still don’t love it and can’t believe we lived there for 2 years!

    1. anne marie:
And I’ve only ever driven BY Reno. Ah, rest. That WOULD be nice.
