THE ALOE FLOWERS are opening from bottom to top on their stems and our back hall is aglow with golden hues. In its own way, it’s delicious, but not as delicious as the beautiful salmon and mango “rose” salad I had the other day at Mesón Salvador. (Click here for last year’s flowering aloes.)

I love mango… and salmon. So this dish is great for me. And it IS a work of art.
My gawd that Aloe is huge!!!!! And I adore the salad. Friday when in New York …again. I was at a eatery and now think of you two every place. Ill share it soon. It was in Soho.

The aloe planters started with three well space plants. They’ve multiplied and quadrupled in size! Thanks for thinking of us re NYC. Will be back in September.
Pretty rose. You lost me at salmon 🙂 I have a plant in my back yard that grows something like that in the middle of it. It’s not an aloe. It has lush green leaves, or whatevers, instead of being a succulent. Elephant ears, maybe? It comes and goes year after year without us touching it. We bought the house sixteen years ago, and I still don’t know what that thing is called.

Send a photo of the plant when it grows this year. We can figure it out.
Send a photo? Me? Surely you jest! From looking at pictures online I discovered it ain’t an elephant ear. It looks to me to be some form of philodendron. Doesn’t matter. It grows without getting any attention and it is purty, so it is the perfect plant for me. I hope the dogs don’t snack on it though.

I miss my Vivitar 110 camera. Does that say something about my digital aptitude?
Deedles: Oh my god! I remember those little things. I had a Kodak Instamatic in the ’60s. I wonder what I finally did with that. I also had a Polaroid in the ’60s! I would say cameras are easier now, but if you haven’t stayed up to date, it’s like science fiction. Do you use your phone camera? Jerry had his iPhone 8 Plus for a year and one day he said, “Did you know I have a camera on my phone?!?” I wouldn’t ask Jerry to share a plant picture either.
Phone camera, ha! I want a phone to be a phone! Mine is in my purse, turned off. I use it in case of emergencies, like needing a tow from Triple A again. I accidently took a picture of my finger once. I miss film and snapshots!

takes some careful twisting for that mango salmon rose. and that aloe! and that stovepipe cactus! and that cat! deedles can give me all her salmon (OM NOM NOM NOM!).

That cactus has grown another foot in the past year! I’m sure it took me less time to eat that rose than it did for them to make it!
