DURING ONE OF our friend Judyshannonstreetwhat’s visits to Fuengirola (click here), she told me that as she crossed the bridge near our building that goes over one of the water run-off channels, she heard a baby alligator. She didn’t actually believe there were baby alligators living here (or grown ones), but that’s what she said she heard. Well, the other day, I was crossing that same bridge and I, too, heard the baby alligators. I stopped alongside a couple who were trying to figure out what was producing the sound. None of us could find the source. Today, I heard a cacophony of baby alligators and, lo and behold, I found one. I’m pretty sure it’s a Rana Ridibunda, which I think should be my drag name, if I ever need one. It’s the Latin name for a marsh frog, which I think is an odd thing to call a baby alligator.
DURANTE UNA DE una de las visitas a Fuengirola de nuestra amiga Judy, ella me dijo que cuando cruzó el puente cerca de nuestro edificio que pasa por uno de los canales de escorrentía de agua, escuchó a un bebé cocodrilo. Ella no creía realmente que había cocodrilos que vivían aquí (o unos adultos), pero eso es lo que dijo que escuchó. Bueno, el otro día, estaba cruzando ese mismo puente y también escuché a los bebés cocodrilos. Me detuve junto a una pareja que intentaba averiguar qué estaba produciendo el sonido. Ninguno de nosotros lo pudo encontrar. Hoy escuché una cacofonía de cocodrilos bebé y, he aquí, encontré uno. Estoy bastante seguro de que es un Rana Ridibunda, que creo que debería ser mi nombre “drag queen”, si alguna vez lo necesito. Es el nombre en latín de una rana del pantano, lo que creo que es una cosa extraña llamar un cocodrilo bebé.

The Spanish for crocodile is cocodrilo. So if the brand were created in Spain, it would be called Cocs. And I’ll bet in that case Maddie would like them!
