San Geraldo will soon run out of patience and it’s not that I haven’t been trying to behave since my cataract surgery yesterday morning. I simply forget.
I know for certain the cats are already disgusted with me. Moose can’t understand why I won’t keep getting down on the floor with him. And Dudo has been bringing me his toys and then doesn’t understand why I will only bend down and throw them one time (but don’t tell San Geraldo I’m even doing that). I’m Dudo’s playmate. He adores San Geraldo but doesn’t seem to like how he plays.
Our friend Pedro (click here) made us paella yesterday so we wouldn’t have to worry about lunch after the surgery. Although he forgot to deliver the separate container of peas to be mixed in (and he’ll probably berate himself for weeks to come), the paella was out of this world. Superb. Is there anything he can’t do? It gave us two meals and San Geraldo cooked up some peas for the second serving.
San Geraldo has been washing the dishes for the past two days. What a guy! We were back at the doctor this morning and all is well. My vision is already better than it’s been in ages. So, now to remember to relax and take it easy.

San Geraldo pronto se quedará sin paciencia y no es que no haya intentado comportarme desde mi cirugía de cataratas ayer por la mañana. Simplemente me olvido.
Sé con certeza que los gatos ya están disgustados conmigo. Moose no puede entender por qué no voy a seguir acostándome con él. Y Dudo me ha traído sus juguetes y luego no entiende por qué solo me inclinaré y los tiraré una vez (pero no le diga a San Geraldo que estoy haciendo eso). Soy el compañero de juegos de Dudo. Él adora a San Geraldo, pero no parece gustarle cómo juega.
Nuestro amigo Pedro (haz clic aquí) nos hizo una paella ayer para que no tuviéramos que preocuparnos por el almuerzo después de la cirugía. Aunque se olvidó de entregar el recipiente separado de guisantes para mezclar (y probablemente se regañará en las próximas semanas), la paella estaba magnífico. ¿Hay algo que él no pueda hacer? Nos dio dos comidas y San Geraldo cocinó unos guisantes para la segunda porción.
San Geraldo ha estado lavando los platos. ¡Qué hombre! Volvimos al médico esta mañana y todo está bien. Mi visión ya es mejor de lo que ha sido en años. Así que, ahora, recuerda relajarte y tomarte las cosas con calma.
Delicioso incluso sin los guisantes.

The day of the surgery was the pits but it’s amazing how quickly it felt better. The worst now, other than being less active, is the black and blues from where the doctor pulled the tape from around my eye. As for the cats, Go see Papi SG doesn’t work. So they’ve won… but I’m being careful.

I had mono lenses as opposed to bi focals. My distance vision is already so good. And I have Less Than 40 Year Old Eyes! Which means my arm is now long enough to read!
For some reason all I can think of is, “here’s looking at you kid!” Relax, take it easy, don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy.

You have beautiful eyes, Scoot. Such delicate seeming things and yet so strong! I had cataract surgery on each eye one year apart back in 2011 and 2012. Some kind of implant I think. I wouldn’t watch the video. Dr. Pre-puberty described it as slicing open an M&M, removing the chocolate and replacing it. Fun. I don’t remember all of the resting stuff tho. Of course, I don’t remember yesterday either. You take care, and milk it honey! That will be hard for you, but it is oh so much fun! I get out of all kinds of homey stuff after my injections. Those are tapering off now *sigh*.
By the way, that paella thing is putting into my mind thoughts of grubs and maggots! Just thought I’d share *snicker*.

Yep, they inserted new lenses in your eyes… and removed the real ones! I really don’t remember the surgery on my left eye, which was only in November. Hoping to soon forget this one, which seemed so much worse while I was going through it because I didn’t remember the first one (and that made me think it was a breeze). According to the doctor that’s very common. He did however admit that “removal” was unusually stubborn, so it did take longer and was a but different from the first one. No need to milk anything with Jerry. He always wants to wait on me hand and foot.
I’ve known someone who wore glasses all her life who stopped after cataract surgery.

That WAS a possibility if I had had bifocal lenses implanted, but there was no guarantee, my insurance covered every cent of mono lenses, and I had some risk factors because of my retina problems. My distance vision will continue to improve but is already so good I can’t believe it. AND my arms are actually long enough again to read without glasses. I wasn’t expecting that!
I think San Geraldo is correct in mothering you! Without it I think you would unintentionally overdo it.

I’m waiting to go in for mine probably not until October – I must admit I’m scared as I don’t like anything near my eyes. Even putting drops in is a major trauma. But it will be nice to have the clouds part.
And again follow doctor’s orders! And that’s an order.
Hummmm, tying you down…. You might like that. Or some fur lined cuffs.
Susan, honey, I may be wrong but I don’t think tying him down and using cuffs (fur lined or otherwise) falls under the heading of “taking it easy”. At least it never did in my house. Walking away, whistling.

Nope, I don’t think so… although I’ve never tried it.

The surgery takes less than a half hour… usually only 15 minutes. The anesthesia helps. The reward is so worth it and you quickly forget the procedure. But I don’t have that eye discomfort, which like you a good friend has. Xanax! Sorry about that.
Glad to hear your recoving…..but seeing eyes up that close is creepy. You managed to surprise me dear.

Sorry about that! Today, although the eye is great, it actually looks a bit like a have a shiner. I won’t share.

Yes, he is an amazing artist. Another great and also gay artist is Gareth Farr – a composer, amazing percussionist, and he used to also perform as Lilith ( a drag act). I guess we are even spoilt politically here with Jacinda Adern being our Prime Minister. The Minister of Finance, Grant Robertson, lives with his husband in the same inner suburb as me. His husband is a bus driver.

When we lived in Diego, Jerry flew to China on business — 18 hours earlier there. I asked him to pick up a California newspaper and find out the winning lottery numbers, so I could buy a ticket. He didn’t think it would work. A missed opportunity!
