AFTER SUNDAY’S MUSHROOM clouds, I thought I’d share some beauty. The hibiscus along the Paseo — insects and all. I took these photos and more along one 3-km (2-mile) stretch of beach. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Click the images and go ahhhhhhh.

‘So won’t you be my neighbour’………
LOVE hibiscus!
Oh, Jim, we would love to be your neighbors. But you’ll have to move here!
Beautiful, I needed that. I miss my flowers
Cheapchick,
So uplifting to see all around us. Your flowers will be back before you know it.
Love the petal shape of the first yellow one. Beautiful.
parsnip
Parsnip,
I did, too. So many varieties and colors.
Ahhhhhhhhh!
Debra,
Yes! It helps.
red and yellow and pink and green
purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow
sing a rainbow
sing a rainbow too
(that’s what the flowers remind me of)
Anne Marie,
I can’t believe I had never heard that song!
Nice flowers
Adam,
And all over town.
As that great philosopher, Madonna, once said, in ‘Vogue’ …. ‘beauty’s were you find it.
Gosh, she’s amazing. Whatever happened to her ….
Bob,
Oh that talent. Oh that EGO. Oh that pirate eye patch and modified face! Enough.
Glorious! I’m looking forward to spring.
Walt the Fourth,
We’ve had a bit of summer in recent days. Clear and sunny all week, they said. Fog so thick this morning, we couldn’t see the beach!
One of the things I miss from Florida, the flowers in the neighborhood.
David:
We’ve been spoiled by year-round flowers for some time now.
Very pretty! I think I like hibiscuses 🙂 This is also my favorite R.E.M. song ever! Call me a sap, but it makes me cry every time.
Deedles:
I love REM and, yes, this song especially. And I love to cry to them… or at least get all mopey. We love hibiscus. Had loads of them for a while on our terrace and it was glorious, but SG got tired of fighting the bugs. And, lately, he’s so busy with his books that he can’t be bothered much with the plants except for watering, so not a good time to try them again. I tell him he should just do what the city does and cut them down to their trunks a couple of times a year.
Reminds me of Florida, my home turf. (Bugs and all!) A few aphids never hurt anyone, and they’re good for the ladybugs.
Steve:
Maybe we should buy some more hibiscus… and a bag of lady bugs.
