ALTHOUGH MY AFTERNOON at Plaza Mayor was very pleasant, I didn’t have a huge shopping spree. There’s really nothing I need and I’m trying to stop impulse buying. Especially when it comes to clothing. I have no room in the house and not enough days to wear what I have.
But, as planned, I did buy myself another bottle of Rituals Bleu Byzantin cologne, which has become my latest “signature” fragrance. That, unfortunately, was retail. But I spent enough to receive a free gift set and I was also given a couple of samples. So I came home happy — even if the free samples were anti-aging and anti-wrinkle formulas. Was there a message there?!?
In the outlet mall itself, I went into the Tumi luggage shop with the hope of finding a new daily use shoulder bag for San Geraldo. His is in terrible shape. I know he prefers brown leather with lots of pockets, large enough to fit his iPad and an assortment of other things. I found a bag I knew he would like, but I wasn’t confident it was quite large enough. To top it off, despite being hugely discounted, it was still a lot more money than I would normally spend on something like that. It wasn’t, however, more than SG would spend. His current bag was around the same price and nowhere near the same quality. So, I took my chances and bought it; I could return it for store credit if it didn’t work (which honestly wasn’t very useful since there’s nothing else I need from Tumi). I even had it monogrammed.
As I expected, SG loved the bag. However, it wasn’t quite large enough and didn’t have enough zippered pockets for him. I had been so excited to have this special gift and to make him happy that I was more disappointed than he was. However, he told me if I really wanted to make him happy I would keep it. I debated — a lot — and finally agreed. I was going to go back to the shop and have it monogrammed for myself, but I think I’ll keep San Geraldo’s initials on it. I still have to find a new bag for San Geraldo. Otherwise, I’ll fill like a self-serving little stinker.

AUNQUE MI TARDE en Plaza Mayor fue muy agradable, no tuve una gran cantidad de compras. Realmente no necesito nada y estoy tratando de detener la compra por impulso. Especialmente cuando se trata de ropa. No tengo espacio en la casa y no tengo suficientes días para usar lo que tengo.
Pero, según lo planeado, me compré otra botella de colonia Rituals Bleu Byzantin, que se ha convertido en mi última fragancia “firma”. Eso, desafortunadamente, fue minorista. Pero gasté lo suficiente para recibir un juego de regalo gratis y también me dieron un par de muestras. Como esperaba, a SG le encantó la bolsa. Sin embargo, no era lo suficientemente grande y no tenía suficientes bolsillos con cremallera para él. Estaba tan emocionado de tener este regalo especial y hacerlo feliz que estaba más decepcionado que él. Sin embargo, me dijo que si realmente quería hacerlo feliz, me lo quedaría. Discutí, mucho, y finalmente acepté. Iba a volver a la tienda y tenía un monograma para mí, pero creo que mantendré las iniciales de San Geraldo. Todavía tengo que encontrarle un bols0 nuevo. De lo contrario, me llenaré como un hombre egoísta.

That was no sammich. That was a tarta de naranja y chocolate from Starbucks. Kind of like an orange poundcake with chocolate icing.
I think that’s a great bag. My husband carries a bag too. It started with traveling and now he can’t live without it. We were in Costco the other day and some other man saw him pushing a cart with the bag. He said “nice purse” and smirked. My husband just smiled widely and said “Thanks!”. I wasn’t with him as was waiting in a lineup. People are so freaking ignorant some times, as I am certain you are fully aware. My husband (and I) really don’t give a rats ass what other people think. Anyway, glad you treated yourself to your cologne. The perfect bag will come along for SG

Most men carry bags here and have for a long time. Some even carry ones that look like clutches. I understand it’s more common/cool in the United States lately, but we still often get looks (jerks) when we’re there. Even my mother referred to them as our “man bags.”
We never leave home without our ‘man bags’!

GRL….nice monogram 🙂 I suppose when you go out someplace to buy a bag you don’t end up with a toddler’s Iron Man costume instead of a brown purse, twice. *Sigh*

Are those buildings new or are they renovated buildings, it looks very nice. The bag is great, love the look of it. I have never heard of that fragrance, have to look it up.

All new. Rituals is a Dutch company founded in 2000. I discovered them here in Spain and their shops are showing up in more places. Great products!

That is quite a handsome bag…and very different for Tumi. I love it. I’m glad you kept it. But don’t you need underwear too after complimenting mine?

I have enough underwear for 5 weeks. So, yes, I NEED underwear. Always. I checked out that website and loved it.
I rarely buy things for myself anymore. But I do like to look sometimes.

I had never heard of timbuk2. Just checked it out. Nice stuff. Have never seen it here.
The first one I had was a stock item (found at a discount) the second one was custom made, meaning it was made in California instead of Asia. I broke the clasps on the first one, emailed them and they shipped me repair parts for free. Good customer service.

We had a collection and it’s the one piece we kept when we left the States. The rest we donated to the GLBTQ Center in San Diego for their silent auctions. This one is by artist Ed Nesteruk and purchased in 1981. It was our first true collection piece. We had some other great pieces that I DO now miss, but they probably wouldn’t have survived the crossing AND we’re hoping the Center made good money.
Well, at least you tried! Bags are very personal things. Dave has bought me a several camera bags and none of them have worked for my purposes. He eventually stopped trying, and I just buy the same ol’ bag over again whenever I need a replacement!

SG has needed a new bag for a while now. He’s looked and hasn’t been successful. His current bag was from an artesan shop in Ronda (about 1-1/2 hours from here). Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations.
Just to let you know, Mitch, that I’m rejoicing. At last I’ve got your blog included in my automatic follows, rather than having to remember to look it up on the bookmarks tab. You should now be getting more frequent comments from me, and I hope and long to see yet more pussy pics. Hooray!
