Lockdown Day 53: Oh, the Cleverness of Me / Encierro Día 53: Oh, la Inteligencia de Mi

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

WHILE WATCHING THE SUNRISE TUESDAY, just before heading onto the beach for a walk, I noticed the long, artful shadows being made on the pavement by the people passing by. I was inspired. And I was inspired again this morning. I flipped all the images on their heads and imagined something different. I don’t know how clever I actually am, but, as Peter Pan said before he crowed, “It’s just that I am what I am. And I’m me.”

.

Y yo soy yo”.

You’re so right. This was unplanned. I started with the normal photo with a nice shadow. Then flipped them. Then took out the color. Much more interesting.

  1. Had to keep doing a double take whilst looking at them! Wonderful in there weirdness

    1. Tynan:
This is the start of a new obsession. Last night’s sunset as you know was overcast. No good shadows from here!

  2. At first I thought I was drunk … then I realized what I was seeing.
Took me a minute ,,, but I like the upside downs.

    1. Bob:
So, because you realized what you were seeing, does that mean you definitely weren’t drunk?

  3. Excellent! They do offer a very interesting perspective. I especially like the fourth shot down with two bicyclists passing each other in opposite directions.

    1. Steve:
I loved that shot, too. Thanks. I waited, but never did catch another one like that. I’ll see what else I come up with.

  4. That is cool!!!!! I like the ones of the bike. And is it me or has the pandemic affected everyone? No one has some damn crazy looking outfits on, or a short leg opening 2 ft higher that the other!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    1. Mistress Maddie:
See today’s post for a couple of fashion mishaps(?). Clearly, it’s the tourists… except for the short leg.

  5. Very artsy! I like it. Works in black and white. Color probably wouldn’t be as effective.

    1. Deedles:
Thanks. You’re right. When i decided to flip the photos, I found the images even more interesting. But when I removed the color, they were transformed.

    1. Raybeard:
I get confused when I look at them and I know where they started.

    1. Wilma:
I wish I had the walls for them. (Uh oh, I just thought of a couple of walls!)

  6. Very cool. And it is so nice to see the residents out exercising and none of them seem to have gotten fat during the lockdown even though they couldn’t exercise. I guess that all the pudgies were the tourists before the lockdown.

    1. Cheapchick:
A lot of people are commenting on the weight they’ve put on. Maybe it’s the angles… or maybe it’s all relative.

  7. Several years ago I used to cut silhouettes of people, scenes, animals, kids, you name it, from black silhouette paper. I just think there is so much mystery and drama in those forms. Your photos are good examples of that.

      1. Mitchell, click on my name here and that will take you to my blog. Just put “silhouettes” in the search box and there are several posts that feature them, including one “how to.” Thanks!

      2. TTPT:
How have I never done this before?!? Thanks for the gentle nudge. SO much to catch up on.

    1. Debra:
Exactly. I went from the guy flipping on the beach to flipping people on the street.

    1. John gray:
I haven’t. But I’m tempted to have one or two printed on canvas. I just remembered two walls that still have space.

  8. Very atmospheric pictures. I saw Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan years ago in Columbus, Ohio.

    1. bethfromindiana:
I had such a good time doing this and will be making it a habit. Cathy Rigby was surprisingly good as Peter Pan. It would have been fun to see it live.

  9. Superb! Of course, my favorite is the last one (ahem). For a moment I thought it was the flip guy (see what I did there?) from yesterday, but I don’t think he could have grown that beard so fast.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
Yeah, I liked the big hipster. He goes by every day now. I saw him the same evening I saw the flipper, so I know they’re not the same person. For that reason and the beard. And the fact that the hipster is nearly a foot taller than the flipper.
