Lockdown Day 65: Designer Bags / Encierro Día 65: Bolsos Diseñadores

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

WHILE TYPING YESTERDAY, MY FOREHEAD suddenly slapped against my computer screen. The pills I picked up at the pharmacy were having some effect. I lifted my heavy head, wiped the screen, and realized my sciatic pain was gone. So I went to bed.

I slept soundly for a bit before lunch. After lunch, I went back to bed and slept some more. I was barely aware of the sciatica for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, the pill I took before going to bed last night didn’t have such a long-lasting effect. I slept for a few hours before the ache returned. Nothing hellish but lying in bed was no longer an option. I decided at that point to do a fashion post because, when I looked in the mirror, I saw designer bags under my eyes.

The photo at top and the first set of photos below are memories of Fuengirola fashion in days gone by. The second set are what I’ve seen around town in recent days. Go ahead and click the pictures. I’ve kept my baggy eyes to myself.

As Oscar Wilde said, “Fashion is what one wears one self. What is unfashionable is what other people wear.” (And underwear does double as swimwear.)

I’m hoping to see a physiotherapist today.

.

He mantenido mis ojos holgados para mí mismo.

Como dijo Oscar Wilde: “La moda es lo que uno lleva puesto. Lo que no está de moda es lo que llevan otras personas ”. (Y la ropa interior funciona como ropa de baño).

Espero ver a un fisioterapeuta hoy.

  1. If there is any ‘good thing’ at all about your bout with this pain is that you have a medication that works to give you some relief…..till it is gone forever. Hoping the physio helps.
    Now to the ‘fashions’……OUCH!

    1. Jim:
Unfortunately, the medication was great that first time, but gives me perhaps an hour ever since. I think the physio will do it!

  2. You know me, the Prints of Mixed Fabrics. I tried to find something that worked but the only thing I like was Underwear as Swimweat,
    Go figure.

    1. Bob:
Yeah, nothing wrong with that underwear. I’m not really missing the glut of fashion statements.

  3. Sounds like those pills knocked you right out except when you needed them to at night! I hope the physio helps!

    1. Debra:
I think the physiotherapist has already helped and I took another pill last night anyway.

  4. With luck the physiotherapist will look like the guy fresh out of the wetsuit, that would take you mind off the pain.

    1. David:
The physiotherapist had a very different look from the guy in the wet underwear, but as you’ll see from today’s blog post… no complaints.

  5. Hope the PT finds a way to help relieve your pain. Too bad there isn’t a mix n’ match therapist in your town. Ei yi yi.

    1. Mary:
I actually found a mix n’ match therapist and I think it’s helping.

  6. Physiotherapy can be amazingly effective for many issues – hoping you have a good experience.

We had a big thunderstorm last night that upset the dogs, so the 2 dogs and I “slept” on the guest bed last night. I had been hoping to get a little nap, but for some reason every time I close my eyes, I see grotesque, clashing colors and patterns and scary figures. No rest for the weary.

    1. Wilma:
Great experience, as you can read today. So sorry about the nightmare images!

  7. Cross-eyed victim I am!
Now that underwear number is attractin’ some attention, me thinks!
    Meds and physio
    meds and physio
    remember to gently stretch
    and
    be kind to your bod!

      1. Ron:
I’m working on it. Some good advice I was given yesterday. When it comes to sciatica, if it hurts, don’t do it. I’ve pushed my limits sometimes thinking it would help.

    1. Ron:
It’s amazing what I pick up from the terrace, isn’t it. Some very nice views.

  8. Wow! That is some SERIOUS fashion. (Not really.) I kind of like the woman’s white dress. That’s about the only tolerable outfit in this post. Not sure about her hair, though.

Good luck with the physio! Let us know how it goes!

    1. Steve:
The woman in the white dress is a typical Spanish look during the afternoon paseo (stroll) common after siesta. People (well, Spaniards) tend to dress well for their daily outing. The hair was a bit “rich,” but she liked it.

    1. Cheapchick:
The camo is so you don’t see his legs. Isn’t it amazing how they completely disappear into the shadows on the pavement. Like magic!

  9. I could have sworn one of those pics was me but alas I am too far away. Also, I keep my fashion at home where it should be….don’t want to do due harm to anyone’s eyes or spirit. I hope you get some help from the physiotherapist.

    1. Patty:
I think the physiotherapist was a great help. Oddly, if you put a designer name on those outfits, they’d be cool… well to SOME people.

  10. Futuristic fashion for frumpy folks. I’ve found my peeps! I hope you find a way to ease your pain (legally), Scoot. Hugs.

  11. Oh, shoot, I sure hope you get some relief from this pain.
I have to say, those photos at the bottom made such a colorful display! If you ignore what they are of, and just live in a blur, looking at them, they add some very nice color and pattern to the day! Ha!

    1. Judy:
And a little color is always welcome. It hasn’t been a great lockdown — physically!

  12. I didn’t know speedos could be baggy in the backside! Not a good look. I hope someone told him.
Here’s hoping you get through the pain soon!

    1. Walt the Fourth:
That top triptych isn’t Speedos. Those are actually nylon running shorts tucked (mostly) into the liner. I assume it’s to increase sun exposure, but maybe it just makes him feel sexy.

  13. Jeepers creepers! Just what is it with these men? I can only conclude that they’re begging to be noticed. Okay, you’ve succeeded – now STOP IT!

    1. Raybeard:
It’s not ALWAYS men, but, yeah, they do seem to monopolize the fashion market.
