Lockdown Day 67: I’ll Paint Rainbows / Encierro Día 67: Pintaré Arcoiris

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

I WENT FOR A WALK on the beach around 8:15 this morning. Sleep sucked again last night and the construction noise had begun. As I was leaving the house, I noticed a prism of color on an etching done by My Mother the Dowager Duchess. There were prisms of color all along my walk and plenty to make me smile this morning. I hope it does the same for you.

Please click the images. I think they’re worth a closer look.

The workers in the final image are standing on the second floor of what will be a four-story building. I took the photo having no idea what I had captured in the background. That’s a very fortunately placed window frame.
Los trabajadores en la última imágen están parados en el segundo piso de lo que será un edificio de cuatro pisos. Hice la foto sin tener idea de lo que había capturado en el fondo. Ese es un marco de ventana muy afortunadamente colocado.

  1. it’s that warm in the morning for you to go shirtless? here it’s 7a and cloudy and 51F (shivers).

    1. Anne Marie,
Sitting at an [outdoor] cafe right now. First time To have coffee out since mid-March! Currently 74F. Yesterday got up to the low 80s. Glorious.

  2. Umm, the man in the window! Does he have any idea? For a several years I had an office directly across the street from a hotel, why is it, that the people who appear naked in hotel windows are those you would sooner not see naked in a hotel window?

    1. David,
I don’t think the man had any idea, which reminds me that I should stop walking out on our terrace naked! And I agree about those I invariably see in windows.

  3. What a great etching by your mother!
Will be keeping my shirt on today here….a mere 5C this morning…..going up to 15C.
Hope you get some solid sleep soon.

    1. Jim,
5C and UP TO 15?!? Already nearing 25 here. You’re a better man than I, Gunga Din. And that’s not the first time I’ve told you so.

  4. I need a walk on the beach these days. So peaceful ….well, except for the construction noise.

    1. Bob,
The first 2 months of lockdown were scarily silent here except for the sounds of sea and wind. Now, the construction noise is overwhelming.

    1. Debra,
I’m 6’2” and a lot of that is legs. You should have seen me at this height when I was in my 20s and weighed 12 pounds!

  5. What a beautiful day! That rainbow over DD’s etching is a perfect moment in time. Do you have any noise canceling headphones or earbuds to minimize the construction noise? A horrible intrusion into your space.

    1. Wilma,
Hadn’t even though about the headphones. We both have them. And we’ve got ear plugs. Thanks!

    1. Cheapchick,
I’ve never been a good sleeper, but this has really been the pits. Last night was an improvement. I slept for three consecutive hours. And walking on the beach here makes up for a lot.

  6. I would love to walk on a beach this summer, but that not might not happen. It will be the first time in probably 20 years I won’t be shaking sand out of my underalls.

    1. Mistress Maddie,
Have you stopped wearing Underoos? We were just talking about the summer (and fall) trips we will NOT be taking. Sorry you can’t get to the beach.

  7. Our day turned out to quite refreshing, bright and peaceful. Jim is falling asleep at his computer as I type…. LOL!! Your Mom’s etching is quite lovely! Beach life has such a flavour of warmth, sandiness and pastel lighting ~ love it!

    1. Ron,
I love how the colors change depending on the light. My mother created some beautiful art.

  8. Love the rainbow on the etching – a good sign???? I do hope you sleep better tonight and the visit on Friday yields some relief.

    1. Willym,
I slept three consecutive hours last night. Not much after that, but better than 30 minutes at a time for a total of three.

    1. Janie Junebug,
One of my many nicknames that didn’t stick when I was a kid. Imagine me at this height and 125 pounds (freshman year)!

  9. The rainbow on your mother’s art work is spectacular. That, and the walk on the beach, would save the day.

    1. Walt the Fourth,
It was a beautiful morning as I left the house. Rainbows everywhere. And it DID really help.

  10. HA! That person in the window — so funny! I wonder if she (I think?) saw you with the camera?!

I love that etching by your mom, especially with the rainbow lighting.

    1. Steve:
That person was a man. (I zoomed in when I spotted him during download.) I was far away on the beach and didn’t see him until I got home, so it’s pretty certain he didn’t see me. My mother had versions of that etching with mixed colors of ink. I didn’t like them as much. But she would have loved THIS rainbow version.
