MESÓN SALVADOR OPENED ITS DOORS again this week. We’ve been back for our morning coffee and have enjoyed the company of José, Evie, and Sergio.
We haven’t yet gone for dinner; we’re still not quite relaxed sharing our space with others. But Mesón Salvador is doing everything right, so we’ll enjoy a meal again soon, when we’ll get to see some of the other family we haven’t seen since early March. It’s like being home… except I don’t have to wash the dishes.
I’ve been enjoying a second breakfast: a pitufo (smallish tostada/sandwich) of Serrano ham, manchego cheese, olive oil, and tomato puree, on fresh whole-grain bread). Exquisite. You might remember pitufo is also the Spanish word for Smurf and I can often be seen in winter with Papa Smurf (see the winter photos at the bottom of the page and, also, click here).

MESÓN SALVADOR ABRE LAS PUERTAS nuevamente esta semana. Regresamos a tomar el café de la mañana y disfrutamos de la compañía de José, Evie, y Sergio.
Todavía no hemos ido a cenar; todavía no estamos muy relajados compartiendo nuestro espacio con otros. Pero Mesón Salvador está haciendo todo bien, por lo que pronto disfrutaremos de una comida, cuando podamos ver a algunas de los otros amigos que no hemos visto desde principios de marzo. Es como estar en casa … excepto que no tengo que lavar los platos.
He estado disfrutando de un segundo desayuno: un pitufo (tostada / sándwich pequeño) de jamón serrano, manchego, aceite de oliva y puré de tomate, en pan integral fresco). Exquisito. I adore Joni Mitchell! So good to be back at Mesón Salvador. From the start, they made this home for us.

San Geraldo has to do Papa Smurf for Halloween.

That’s a GREAT idea! Except that neither of us want to use make-up as part of our costumes. (Too much work… I know. I know. We should be ashamed.) Besides, SG has lost about 25 pounds and shaved his beard. He doesn’t look so much like Papa Smurf anymore.

Those are old photos. During the DEAD of winter. When the temps dropped to below 18C/65F… Any lower than that and the long underwear comes out.

It’s been a long time since I saw anything about a Smurf. We ate lunch in a restaurant last weekend. It’s the first time we’ve gone in a restaurant in months. I felt pretty comfortable about going to this particular place. Very few people were there, but they continued to maintain social distancing standards. I know I can count on you to be careful.
