Lockdown Day 86: Mediterranean Microdermabrasion / Encierro Día 86: Microdermabrasión Mediterranea

I HAD A MICRODERMABRASION TREATMENT yesterday. It wasn’t intentional. I decided to sit on the beach for an hour at just about the time the winds kicked up in gusts. Chairs were flipped. Beach umbrellas were torn apart. Belongings were blown away. And it was painful. A wiser person would have turned around and gone right back upstairs.

We spoke with our friend Judyshannon in Seattle last night and she commented (after first saying, “Oh, boo hoo, poor baby got sand blown on him while he lounged outside his front door on the Mediterranean Sea”)… Where was I? Oh yeah, Judy then said, “A good aesthetician would have charged $1,000 for that. You got it for free.” But I said a good aesthetician would have done a more consistent job and not left me with raw spots all over my body.

At that point, San Geraldo said, “It’s a good thing then you weren’t at the NUDE beach.” And that reminded me of 1993 and the first time I went to a nude beach, Black’s in La Jolla, California. I didn’t burn easily and was already very tan at the time. Although I did protect my privates (I was a bit obsessed with them, I suppose), I didn’t think much about my buns. They were toast. Anyway, I’ve never been to an aesthetician. But at this point in my life, I might be better served by a sandblaster.

.

Wind-blown on Black’s Beach, late 1995. With my clothes on (sorry).
Soplado por el viento en la Playa de Black, a fines de 1995. Con mi ropa (lo siento).

  1. just seeing pix of the beach makes me smile. today is back to work day; the lockdown has been lifted!

    1. anne marie:
We’ve gone to Phase 3 here, but lockdown has not yet lifted. Even the easing of more restrictions makes me a bit nervous. We’ll still be careful. Hope things go well for you there!

    1. James:
Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m always nude under the clothes.

  2. That is one word for it! lol
Hope your camera didn’t get blasted……when our sand starts to ‘blast’ around we immediately think about hiding it under our clothes or back in camera bag. Nothing worse than a sand-soaked camera.
Then again, you probably had your cell with you……
Aren’t nude beaches fun! Just letting everything all hang out…….figuratively and literally!

    1. Jim,
Fortunately I had forgotten my camera, so only had my iPhone. The rubber cover was embedded with sand and I had to wash it when I got home. My gym bag was zipped on the beach and still filled with sand.

    2. Jim… And yes, I love nude beaches. My first time at Black’s Beach, I was surprised by the innocence of it all (except in the gay section in the bushes… which I avoided).

    1. John,
Beach has not yet gotten busy, but that was the quiet time of day, and the blowing sand really was brutal. Things are opening up here, but that’s not without its concerns. Don’t know WHEN I’ll visit my brother again.

      1. Urspo,
Well, I’m so glad Debra controlled herself and only said she WASN’T going to say it.

    1. Debra,
Subtle. Like Maxwell Smart. Don’t tell me you have raw wiener. I have a raw wiener. I told you not to tell me.

  3. I’d lep like that for a trip to the beach … even if it was just across the street!

  4. You have such fantastic pictures and always something interesting to write about.

    1. Beth,
Thank you so much. I regularly have my doubts and really appreciate your kindness.

  5. The beach looks perfect. Was that a shot of broken umbrellas being disposed of or a receptacle for storing umbrellas? Be sure to keep tender parts covered during sandblasting.

    1. Wilma,
Yep. Those were the deceased umbrellas in the trash. Thanks for the advice regarding sandblasting. I think I’ll just keep the crags as they are.

    1. Kirk,
I was surprised by how innocent it all felt. Families, seniors, everyone relaxing on the beach with no clothes on. I had no idea it would be like that. Of course, as long as I avoided the cruisy area… and I did.

  6. Well, it looks like a beautiful day, despite the wind. I had the same thought Judy did — you’d have paid a fortune for that treatment in a salon! (Just sit on the same beach tomorrow with your OTHER side to the wind, and your microdermabrasion will even out.)

  7. Just so you know, I’ll be riding your swim trunk flaps to the beach with you since I don’t know if I’ll make it this summer. So I will live vicariously through you.

    1. Mistress Maddie,
That’s the best offer I’ve had in years. You’re very welcome. (Oh the photoshop opportunities are endless.)
