I MET ELENA AND TYNAN for coffee Sunday morning. Truthfully, by the time any of us got there, it was Sunday afternoon. Tynan and Elena had beer. We meet at El Jazzy Bar because Elena starts her day at the beach and El Jazzy is on her way home. It’s also very pleasant to sit outside beside the Roman ruins.
Elena, however, didn’t arrive from the direction of the beach. She had picked up her mother and then came directly to meet us. I wondered why Elena would miss a Sunday at the beach until I saw her arm.
“What did you do?” I gasped.
“I was cooking dinner Tuesday and didn’t realize there was water in a dish I was moving. The water splashed into the hot oil. I got second-degree burns on my arm.”
How many times do I have to say it?!? Cooking is dangerous!
FASHION IS SAFE. MY SHIRTS didn’t exactly coordinate with my masks in recent days. So I improvised. My work is so fine, you can’t even see the stitches. No sharp needles were used.

ME REUNÍ CON ELENA Y Tynan para tomar un café el domingo por la mañana. A decir verdad, cuando llegamos allí, era domingo por la tarde. Tynan y Elena tomaron cerveza. Nos encontramos en El Jazzy Bar porque Elena comienza su día en la playa y El Jazzy está camino a casa. También es muy agradable sentarse al lado de las ruinas romanas.
Elena, sin embargo, no llegó desde la dirección de la playa. Había recogido a su madre y vino directamente a nuestro encuentro. Me preguntaba por qué Elena se perdería un domingo en la playa hasta que vi su brazo.
“¿Qué hiciste?” jadeé.
“Estaba cocinando la cena el martes y no me di cuenta de que había agua en un plato que estaba moviendo. El agua salpicó el aceite caliente. Tengo quemaduras de segundo grado en mi brazo”.
¿Cuántas veces tengo que decirlo? ¡Cocinar es peligroso!
LA MODA ES SEGURA. Mis camisas no coincidían exactamente con mis mascarillas en los últimos días. Entonces improvisé. Mi trabajo es tan bueno que ni siquiera puedes ver los puntos. No se utilizaron agujas afiladas.

I bet that took some time, getting the back of the collar to match. I had something go boom in the kitchen yesterday morning, the power control unit in the cooktop shorted out – it is only 38 years old – the appliance salesman said, “they don’t make them like they use to.”

Yeah, I agree with Mary, too. I love the masked picture of Elena because I was finally able to emphasize her eyes. That color amazes me. Their daughter’s are identical. Tynan and their son have the most brilliant light blue. Me? I have what has been called shit brown. But it’s very, very dark shit.
Funny you mention eye color. Mine are always light blue…but at times they turn dark green!!!! I think that’s when me bad side comes out. My friend said he never saw a person’s eye change color. I guess im an odd ball.

I’m actually surprised your friend had never seen eyes change color. I actually thought that was common — not that there’s anything common about you. I’ve known so many people with eyes that do change especially when they start in the green and hazel range. Elena and Paula’s eyes go through ranges of green and blue, like yours. My shit brown go from medium shit brown to dark shit brown… or maybe I should say a dark shade of milk chocolate to dark chocolate — or someone I know will give me “shit” for describing my eyes that way. Anyway, I always wanted green eyes whether they varied or not.

Lovely pics! And bless you both for the recipe; I might try my hand at it. One of my more curious habits is making bad English translations of foreign words and phrases. My one for avoirdupois is “You got any peas?”

We started off our day with banana bread. I’m waiting for SG to make something else new. I will never forget “You got any peas.” I always wondered what the exact translation was. I wonder how it came to be used for a system of weights.

I managed people who got to use Photoshop all the time but I myself had no opportunities until we had our hotel. Then my jewelry business required me to get more proficient. And now I simply enjoy myself.

Elena is so much tougher than we are. Her only gripe was that she had to stay off the beach. I should make an entire SUIT out of my masks!
Cooking IS dangerous! That’s why I avoid using hot oil as much as possible. Poor Elena, that must really hurt.

Elena is a trooper. Much better than SG or I would be in that situation. She said it didn’t even hurt until the next day when the skin popped off! That’s when she screamed and headed for Urgent Care. Cooking! These people who can’t stay away from extreme sports.
That shirt/mask coordination is not only stylish, but also alarming. I kid.
You are all very fortunate to be living in a country where there was some leadership and cooperation among the populace to get the COVID under control. Things here in the States are totally out of control. The freedom NOT to wear face coverings is apparently enshrined in the Constitution, and not doing so while celebrating in large crowded spaces, swimming pools and beaches on Independence Day is apparently the height of patriotism. And there is no escape.
While you are cautiously enjoying going to a restaurant with friends, we (some of us) are bracing for the worse surge of COVID yet (and I can’t even imagine the worse).

We’re very grateful for the way things have been handled here and for the way the people have responded. But there are surges right now around the country. Not huge (yet), but of concern. Málaga has even put more controls in place because people haven’t been following the rules on beaches. We also DO have our own rightwing politicians that have made this entire process much more difficult for the president. Still, it’s a very different attitude and culture than in the US. It’s an impossible situation made worse by impossibly stupid and selfish leaders. I’m sorry you have to live in the midst of that and hope things change soon.
You crack me up with your fabric photoshopping. You don’t want to be TOO matchy-matchy, though. Contrast is sometimes nice. 🙂 (I love that geometric mask pattern, BTW.)
