I’M TAKING MY iMAC IN for service this afternoon. I’m going to get a clean reinstall of the operating system. I looked up how to do it myself, but decided to pay for the service so they can clean up some other things, as well. They’re only charging €59.
I first contacted the shop because they do house calls. However, thanks to the pandemic, that’s not on offer. It’s about a 35-minute walk from home, which is not a walk I want to take while awkwardly carrying a 21-inch-wide, 12.5-pound (52.8-cm, 5.66-kg) iMac.
San Geraldo would drive me (I still haven’t taken my road test for my Spanish license; that’s now planned for October), but our building doesn’t have enough parking spots for everyone. It’s not a problem most of the year when there are rarely more than 10 cars in the lot. But, in August, it’s a nightmare. If we use our car, there’s a good chance we won’t have a place to park when we return. The public lots all fill up, as well. So, we taxi when we can’t walk or train somewhere. Only 26 days left in August!
I suppose I could rent a pedal boat for €25. Never mind, a €6 taxi is much more practical. These are photos from my walk early this morning when I again saw The Little Drummer Boy.

LLEVARÉ MI iMAC AL SERVICO esta tarde. Voy a obtener una reinstalación limpia del sistema operativo. Busqué cómo hacerlo yo mismo, pero decidí pagar el servicio para que puedan limpiar otras cosas también. Solo cobran 59 €.
Primero contacté a la tienda porque hacen visitas a domicilio. Sin embargo, gracias a la pandemia, eso no se ofrece. Se trata de una caminata de 35 minutos desde casa, que no es una caminata que quiera dar mientras que transporto torpemente un iMac de 52.8 cm y 5.66 kilos.
San Geraldo me llevaría (todavía no he tomado mi examen práctico de conducir para obtener mi carnet de España; ahora está planeado para octubre), pero nuestro edificio no tiene suficientes lugares de estacionamiento para todos. No es un problema la mayor parte del año cuando rara vez hay más de 10 autos en el lote. Pero, en agosto, es una pesadilla. Si usamos nuestro automóvil, hay una buena posibilidad de que no tengamos un lugar para estacionar cuando regresemos. Los lotes públicos también se llenan. Entonces, rodamos cuando no podemos caminar o entrenar en algún lugar. ¡Solo quedan 26 días en agosto! Supongo que podría alquilar un bote a pedal por 25 €. No importa, un taxi de 6 € es mucho más práctico. Estas son fotos de mi caminata temprano esta mañana cuando volví a ver a El Pequeño Tamborilero.
Let’s hope a clean Mac is a happy Mac. Probably better than tossing it off the terrace and buying a new one. (I watched a corporate VP toss a copy machine off the balcony into a parking lot one time – while we all cheered him on.)

Well, it’s clean, but I had to do it myself. Story to come. Now I’ve got reload everything! I worked for a point-of-sales technology company. Fortunately, I was NOT in repair. It was amazing how many times we had to replace monitors that had been punched by frustrated users.
Smart to take the cab…..so much more hassle free.

I am just in the process of deciding which iPad Pro with procreate I will own. Feels like xmas early xmas.

I so enjoyed seeing that someone there besides you two, has some kind of style like the guy on the beach, casual, yet has flair and knowledge to add a scarf and chapeau. Brava to him. I like his whole demeanor. And I just bet he is composing in his head some kind of poetic or musical masterpiece. He look very creative and deep in thought….contemplating life. Or he could just be thinking about last nights piece, who knows.

I do love that drummer boy is always wearing a scarf. 90 degrees, 80 percent humidity, scarf. Must be Spanish.. or has become so. He’s got ear buds in, so he was drumming along to something.

Big Mac tastes a lot better and although it may not be good for you it doesn’t cause the stress an iMac does!
not a bad price for geek services. I have a local geek; he is worth his weight in gold.
and a taxi is well worth the convenience of keeping your parking space.

Geek service fell through. I decided to it myself… and I still am!
I had to get a courier service to send my macbook pro to the city (Belize City, the only actual.city in all of Belize!) in hopes of resurrecting it. Still waiting to see if it can be fixed. For sure the battery is bad and a replacement battery should arrive in the country any day.now. in the meantime, I ordered another another computer, but it will be another month until I get it. The cost of living in paradise . . . .
Like Maddie, I think drummer boy has flair.

What a pain that would be! I didn’t end up taking mine own. Story to come tomorrow. I reinstalled the OS myself and am now working on everything else. However, I DO now have the latest version of Photoshop working. All else can wait!
OK so there is a story circulating that Juan Carlos I is living at your place because he heard that SG makes excellent chocolate cake and this is why you are also getting your PC cleaned, because he will want to follow online the bullfight results. Can you confirm if this is true or not? Could you give an interview for our viewers? He would make a nice walking companion on the beach.

Oh, Juan Carlos is not welcome at our place given the latest stories, although I wish him well for taking Spain on the road to freedom and democracy. Anyway, I prefer to walk alone.
Good luck with getting your mac serviced. I don’t know what I would do without my mac! It has taken a lot of abuse in the last four years and is still going strong. I have a macbook pro.

Story about the reinstall to come tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’ve got an iMac (the one with the problems), a MacBook Pro, and an iPad Pro. So, I really shouldn’t complain about anything.
I am an apple person too. I have an ipad, iphone, apple watch and this computer I am typing on now!

I worked in graphic design and publishing for a long time. Apple was “it” initially. I’ve worked on Macs and PCs and I still prefer Macs… hands down! Do you enjoy your Apple watch?
I’m sure some hot mixed plaid wearing one leg up one leg down man on the beach might carry you back and forth????

Thank goodness there’s no guy wearing one-leg hitched-up shorts in this posting. I wonder if there s a name for them……….erm, the shorts, I mean. I can already think of names for the wearers..

I had come up with a whole bunch of different names for the style but none have stuck. I think one may have been Shpants (for shorts and pants).
Maybe that guy’s a famous percussionist. From the Gipsy Kings, maybe? (Did they even have a percussionist?)
Let us know how the re-install goes. I wonder if I should do something like that. I haven’t really updated my computer at all since I bought it about five years ago, and occasionally it does weird things…
