We can work it out / Lo podemos resolver

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, I’ve been collecting photos for a blog post about the workout options along our beaches. Unfortunately, those are some of the photos I lost in the reinstall of my operating system. So, I’ll have to start again collecting photos with my walk later today. Meanwhile, here’s what I caught sight of Friday morning. Individuals and classes on the beach. Kind of like a sunrise service. Oh, and a pair of shorts with one leg shorter. I still don’t know why.

.

Someone doing crunches in the background.
Alguien haciendo abdominales de fondo.
I think the instructor was checking for signs of life. (Awfully close. No mask.)
Creo que el instructor estaba buscando signos de vida. (Terriblemente cerca. Sin mascarilla.)
It’s a style.
Es un estilo.
And now I’m off to meet my girlfriend Maria for breakfast. I’ll introduce you tomorrow. (Her parents are cute, too.)
Y ahora me voy a reunirme con mi novia, María, para desayunar. Te presentaré mañana. (Sus padres son lindos, también.)

  1. Oh! There’s a sunrise yoga class out on the rock pier. They take up the whole good side of the pier! Bothers me and Pedro.

    1. Kathleen:
I’ve seen them. Pissed me off, too. I couldn’t get by to get a picture of a fishing boat teeming with gulls. I mean, priorities?!?

    1. Jennifer:
She is so much fun. SO friendly and curious. Be sure to check out today’s post.

    1. Jim:
With the heat and humidity, it’s been busier very early. The weather was a pleasure. It’s now hot and humid again.

      1. valleyvu:
I have asked people I know. They don’t have a clue. I’ll have to risk my personal safety and ask the next person i see doing it… or maybe the one after that.

    1. Bob:
Oh, Bob, if I only knew. One of these days i’ll find someone who looks approachable and will ask. They either look like they’d be annoyed or embarrassed.

  2. yoga on the beach. good to see a woman doing seated yoga too; everyone needs exercise. the person in the aqua shorts has a nice ass.

    1. anne marie:
Oh, well. The woman in the chair wasn’t actually doing anything. I think she gets wheeled there by someone (her daughter maybe) who’s in the class. She’s always wheeled to the end of that boardwalk and then just sits. The aqua shorts (and ass, I assume) belong to the instructor.

  3. Yoga on the beach – so idyllic. I aspire to be like the person brave enough to venture out with her rollator and participate without feeling self-consciousness. And I aspire to feel mortified if I ever roll up one like Mr. Blue Shorts.

    1. Wilma:
For a laugh, I tried rolling up one leg of my shorts one day on the beach. I felt idiotic. So, I guess I’m safe… for now.

  4. Not one for exercise in front of crowds. Who am I kidding, not one for exercising at all! Sweat and sand, what a lovely combination. Maria’s shirt speaks the truth. What an adorable little girl. don’t you know any homely people?

    1. Deedles:
If I’ve ever met a homely person, I’m not aware. They all become immediately beautiful. I hope you’re having a brilliant weekend with YOUR beautiful people.

  5. I’m trying to imagine the Beatles singing “Lo Podemos Resolver,” but it’s not really working.

I would think beach yoga would be a very sandy experience. Not in a good way. And yeah, what’s up with the lack of distancing?!

    1. Steve:
Not quite as catchy as a phrase. Yeah, I probably wouldn’t enjoy the crotch full of sand I’d end up with. I don’t understand that instructor. The participants are all spaced well apart. But once we were allowed on the beach again he started classes without wearing a mask and handling individuals up close and personal still with no mask. He really should be ticketed or at least warned.

  6. The only person I noticed was the shirtless hunk in the red trunks!!!!!!! Ohhhhhhhhhh dear!!!!

A good friend of mine has a house in Brigantine. When she is there she teaches a sunrise yoga on the beach class and it is often sold out…I went once. I was looking at all those doing the yoga and thought, I should really get off this chair…and go mix myself another bloody mary.

Meanwhile the pandemic had hampered her palliates and yoga classes.

    1. Mistress Maddie:
The shirtless hunk turned his back to the camera too soon. He was perfection from the front. I wouldn’t mind a yoga class on the beach but not with an instructor who gets that close without a mask. Doesn’t say much for his smarts at this time.

    1. Mistress Maddie:
The rule here is you need to wear a mask everywhere unless you’re exercising, biking, etc., or sitting or swimming on the beach. The people standing around should be masked. The instructor touching participants should be masked. And it’s law here, so they should all be fined. And THAT’s why we’re staying home so much again.

    1. Kirk:
I did love the way those two women often mirrored each other. I thought maybe they had fallen asleep in that last shot.

    1. mcpersonalspace54:
I would enjoy that beach yoga I think (sand in my crotch notwithstanding) but the irresponsibility of the instructor (no mask and crouching over people) tells me to find another class.

      1. Totally agree with that. The yoga I do is in an outside pavilion and you have to register online for the class as they limit the number of participants.

  7. What ever happened to just walking on the beach and going for cocktails at the Beach Bar, or it this toooo Italian for Spain? Very unbecoming all this exercise, do they know it’s dangerous you could hurt yourself

    1. larrymuffin:
The beach bars aren’t open that early. You walk on the beach, exercise, work out, and THEN the bars are open and you go have a drink.

    1. Urspo:
I see some very impressive workouts along the beach and paseo. It inspires me. But this humidity takes it out of me very quickly, so I do my workouts inside for now (and not enough).
