Happy Feet

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

MY FEET (AND HIP) REMAIN happy today and I keep reminding myself to sit, stand, and step freely. I had no idea how tentative I’d become (except when it comes to jumping off walls — click here). The sciatica still reminds me it’s there, but I might never have noticed it in the first place had the discomfort been at this level. Physio Susana (whom I’ll see again next week) has filled me with hope — and with new stretches for my arsenal. Some of the stretches are ones I’ve done for years. But I can’t believe there are stretches I haven’t done yet.

I had a great walk yesterday afternoon and have shared below photos of some of the houses in the neighbourhood so you can get an idea of the look just minutes away from the beach. I danced off and onto every curb. The air has cooled, the breezes have arrived and the windows are open to take it all in. Even the cats are enjoying the fresher air. At top is Moose showing off his happy feet.

Sunday’s moonrise.
Salida de la luna del domingo.
Monday’s moonrise.
Salida de la luna del lunes.
As the sky changed color.
Mientras el cielo cambiaba de color.

  1. The way you guys have adapted to life in Spain is evident through your photos………you do seem right at home there.
Spain is all over our national news re the surge in Covid cases popping up. Do be careful like I know you are……take care.

      1. Mistress Maddie:
Fortunately, the outbreaks aren’t around here. But it’s not a huge country, so nothing is far away. We’re doing fine and the city did fine through the first round. Simply exhausting. But the crowds (what there were of crowds this year) are gone!

    1. Jim:
This pandemic is truly a nightmare. We’re fine here. The cases are in pockets and we’re not one of them. Really glad the summer rush is over.

  2. Mindfulness is floating over you and your body Mitch. Susana has opened up your mind and receptors for a new you. Go for it, be aware and I do believe you will start feeling a helluva lot better. Your mind and body are all housed in the same frame so they interact with each other daily. I’m hopeful that your life will improve. Now, give your kitty a belly rub and play with those toes. Winks, Moose’s that is! LOL

    1. Ron:
Still doing really well and I go back to Susana on Monday. If I had a dollar for every belly rub I’ve given Moose… I’d have a LOT of dollars to spend on Moose.

  3. I don’t think you should tempt fate by dancing off and on curbs Mitchell, we know your track record!!!

What a lovely neighborhood…so diverse in design. My two favorites are the three story with the potted plants in the windows and the white house with the striped awning and the huge green hedge that goes to porch level. Quaint and vintagey.

My friend Moose is saying hi!!!!!

    1. Mistress Maddie:
I’m planning to do that Bobbie Van bounce all over town today! Even some of the old and outdated homes are huge surprises inside. Some of the smallest fishermen’s cottages (not shown here) are actually built around beautiful open courtyards.

  4. I was loving the architectural tour and then saw the B&W Modern with the Black Gate and got my check book ready and began packing my bags!

    1. Bob:
Isn’t that house great?!? I’d love to get inside some of these, especially the contemporary ones. I don’t know anyone who lives in those, although I got a peak inside a bit the other day. Huge open spaces. Unbelievable natural light. A garden and pool I never would have expected. Wow! Send me your check book. I’ll take care of it for you.

  5. so many different house designs. my fave is the last house before the moonrise pix. reminds me of single-screen movie theaters back in the day.

I WANNA SCRITCH THAT MOOSE BELLEH!

    1. anne marie:
I love that house. Very stately. Yeah, Moose. He’ll make you get down on the floor and then he’ll move 2 feet away and get coy all over again! Not us, usually, but sometimes. Anyone else, definitely.

  6. Wonderful that you can get out to enjoy long walks in the cooler weather! And we get to enjoy seeing things through your eyes in your photography. The architecture, the moon, the flowers, the fashions, the CATS!

    1. Wilma:
Grateful for the more comfortable temps and for the departure of the summer people. I really do appreciate living here.

    1. Debra:
I can’t believe I’m still feeling pretty good. I could still bend down today with the cats’ treat dishes without making a noise (or grabbing the counter. Wish I had found Susan three years ago, but I’m sure glad I found her now.

  7. Thanks for the architectural tour. Great variety.

As to yesterday’s post…never seen that ‘alien’ machine in any PT practice I’ve been in. Spaniards must be ahead of the game. Glad you are feeling some relief.

    1. Mary:
I’ll ask on Monday about that machine. That along with the electric needles was a wonder!

  8. I see Mads and me are on the same wavelength about those curbs, Scoot! BH fell off of one in front of Pet Smart a few weeks ago and his shoulder is still a little out of whack.
I love Happy Feet! It keeps with Moose’s color scheme 🙂
    The buildings are gorgeous.

    1. Deedles:
Sorry BH is still having shoulder problems. Those seem to take forever to recover. Of course, I’m only talking about dancing off curbs; BH had to show off and do that back flip. I had forgotten how happy Happy Feet makes me. I watched the video several times yesterday (and several others).

      1. I’ve gotten hooked on those reaction to songs videos. I felt so old when most of these people didn’t know who The Righteous Brothers are. It is fun watching people discover older music. Addicting as chocolate.

      2. Deedles,
Our nephew and his wife visited us in Palm Springs 20 years ago. We pointed out Bob Hope’s house. She asked, “Who’s Bob Hope?” Groan.

    1. finlaygray:
Dudo and I box. He’s very careful to keep the claws retracted (usually). Moose is much too gentle. He just wants to be loved.

    1. Judy C:
I’m still doing well. Can’t believe once season has lasted me two entire days so far. So looking forward to this all being a memory!

    1. Walt the Fourth:
I, too, prefer the modern ones. Great, open interior spaces. Lots of light. Very cool. I’d love to have one; and I don’t need 4000 square feet!
