I SEEM TO BE RUNNING behind lately. Adobe Creative Cloud problems have caused the most delays. But I’m getting it figured out and I’m managing to get things done, just hours later than intended.
Jesica and I had a wonderful time together again today for English lessons. She is different from my other friend Jessica who I gave English lessons several years ago. I don’t know if it’s the name but, despite the spelling variants, these are two of the kindest, most interesting people I have ever met. I’m having a great time. And I, too, learn so much every time we meet. I’ll tell you soon about some of the things I’ve learned.
I’m longing to get out of town, even for a day trip, but San Geraldo and I seem to be more comfortable playing it close to home for now. After Jesica’s English lesson this morning, San Geraldo and I had lunch at home and then went furniture and rug shopping. At Grut Carpet Center, The Empire of Asia, we ordered matching custom-cut rugs for the living room and dining room. We did find a lot of things at Grut we thought were ‘interesting’. But we bought today what we believe we need and not what we might possibly want. After Grut, we did a bit more shopping but struck out on our initial search for a new chair and side table for the living room. Let me know if you see anything below you can’t live without.

Jesica y yo pasamos un tiempo maravilloso juntos nuevamente hoy durante su clase de inglés. Ella es diferente de mi otra amiga Jessica a quien di lecciones de inglés hace varios años. No sé si es el nombre pero, a pesar de las variantes de ortografía, estas son dos de las personas más amables e interesantes que he conocido. Me lo estoy pasando genial. I agree. Right now, the masks hang on the coat rack or on a hook in my office. There should be a designated mask hanger.
I gave my DH one of my old work lanyards with a clip on the end and told him to attach his mask to it. That way, he slips it on first thing in the morning and always has a mask around (his neck) when he needs it, but can just drop it when he takes it off without worrying about where he put it when he doesn’t need to wear it. Helps when he has to go in and out of places.

That really is a great idea. When I’m out for coffee, I always tuck my mask in my bag or “somewhere.” I’ll have to buy an “old work lanyard”!
The rug looks to be a Persian style possibly with some Indian tone to it. I like the sculptures especially the Nikki de saint Phale #5 photo, lady with a very large legs multi coloured, I don’t know how big it is but it looks really interesting. Maybe a solid coloured rug for your room would be best.

We had gone out with the idea of solid color, then saw all the Oriental rugs, but decided to stick with solid this time. Trying to continually simplify and lighten the room, so the view of the sea becomes primary.
Too much stuff! The only thing I liked at all was the vase. And the carpet. Maybe you had to be there.

It’s definitely a bit much to take in all at once. But it sure was fun walking around the place.
I love the very colorful sculpture pieces. I could use a coupleof those!

So am I. UC San Diego had a Niki de Saint Phalle on campus. A great meeting place (and photo place).
That first area rug you shows looks very much like the one I just got for the livingroom. I like that it’s much lighter. And the first fat lady figurine is adorable…it’s calling to me.

After deciding to go solid, we saw that rug and were so tempted. My mother’s rug was very dark and rich. This was golden and much lighter. But we wanted decided to stick to our guns and go solid… and in a shade of silvery gray. Would love to see pictures of your place in its new incarnation.
Definitely booty-licious sculptures. The tall wood structure is about my height. The wood horse is amazing. But I’m at the point in my life where I am getting rid of things–not acquiring them. Must admit, I like the free sunrise the best. Ephemeral…but nicely captured in your photograph.

I know I lot of people who would compete in height with that vase. We started getting rid of things in 2008. Did a major purge before moving to Spain. We’ve got plenty now, but much less than we used to and we DO manage to keep ourselves in check when it comes to things we don’t need — like life-size wooden horses.

Now let’s get to that horse! Yes please! I have the spot picked out…..a great room divider.

After looking at all my photos, I completely agree.
I like the painted sculptures, but not enough to buy one. I go with the sunrise, it’s free, as you pointed out.

That’s how we were with the reproductions. Fun to see. No need to buy. Anyway, we tend to prefer one-offs; don’t like walking into someone else’s home only to see our “original” art.
I love all of the rugs. We have. 4.5 foot penguin in the living room.

I would love that penguin. I’ve been tempted to buy (or make) something like that for the terrace. I saw a huge ceramic penguin in a shop nearby a few years ago. Almost bought it. Jerry’s cousin in Norway says they are now related to penguins because one of their great-grandmother’s homes was torn down to make room for the penguin house at the Bergen Aquarium.
My husband is having problems with Adobe Creative Cloud too.

From all I’ve found on the subject, we’re not alone. What a disaster. I do think I have finally got it resolved. I read that I could simply uninstall it but I then had even more problems and an error message every time I opened Photoshop (and constant problems with Photoshop). I tried reinstalling it I don’t know how many times. When I did finally get it to download and begin to reinstall, it would hang up and I’d have to do the whole thing again. I never got passed 43 percent installed. I read that THAT was also a common problem. I finally managed to get it to install, but then it wouldn’t open. I opened Photoshop, received no error message although things were slow at first, but it now seems to be working perfectly. I wish him luck!
LOL — I see many things I CAN live without! I kind of like that Mondrian bulldog, and yeah, the horse is cool. I bet it’s a pain to dust, though.

That dusting comment made me laugh. It reminded me of going into some famous person’s mansion when I was a kid. 76 rooms, 20 foot ceilings, 10 bathrooms — you know the type. The first thing my mother said was, “Oh, so much to dust!” I reminded her about the 28 servants’ rooms.
we used to buy art; I miss doing so. Having nice things like these are a joy.

We picked up a few things in Sevilla in our first year, but hold back now. We used to collect a lot of things but left so many behind when we moved to Spain. I miss some things, like our contemporary art glass collection, but having less IS more.
