Paradise Lost and Found

With no good reason, I’ve been having emotionally challenging days. (Again.) No sympathy needed. No sympathy deserved. No boring details either. My moods are as changeable as today’s skies over Fuengirola. We didn’t have snow and cold, but we had a little of most other things today — sun, clouds, wind, rain, sun, wind, clouds, mist… Did I mention wind? They’re called breezes here. San Geraldo is trying to understand the difference between “breezes” and “wind.” I tell him it’s all in your attitude.

I caught the changing look of Fuengirola as the day progressed. From top to bottom, the photos were taken from around 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. The colors throughout the day and evening were magical. The breezes, not so much.

  1. That fourth picture took me to a happy place … on a beach somewhere, with a cabana boy in a cheetah Speedo bringing me a margarita.

It's rainy today in Smallville so thanks for the 'vacation in my head'!

  2. Beautiful light all day long!! I loved those 'lone palm tree' and horizon shots!!
Full moon never helps. Keep taking photos to distract and focus on the present.
One could probably get a good wind burn there, yes?

  3. The third picture ~~~ those colours ~~~ am I allowed to eat them!? NO ~~ OK then! When I see colours that get my senses going well ~~ I just get all twitchy!!
Changing weather does me in Mitch. Perhaps this is part of why your moods are being challenged. Maritime (seashore) weather is so changeable thus affects the body!
    Take care!

  4. Breezes? Wind? What we are enduring at the moment are gale force winds and I hate it. Weather definitely affects the mood and for me, wind particularly. I hate the rattles and shakes, not to mention the sound effects!

On the other hand, your photos are gorgeous. What a view!

  5. Wow–changing colors and moods indeed. Beautiful. If you look really closely at some of these, you can see the hugs I'm always sending your way.

  6. What lovely views from your balcony!
Palm trees have such a tropical look to them. Coming from a more northerly climate I equate such things with 'fun in the sun'.
I bet those skies will be a brilliant blue in the summer months,

    1. Kirk:
The skies are a brilliant blue right now. Having grown up in NY, I always had the same feeling about palm trees. Having lived in Southern California for a long time, I sometimes take them for granted.

  7. It sounds like your moody weather is reflected in your outlook. Just think what you could do with that if you were a poet–but of course, you accomplish the same thing with your photos!

  8. I love these pictures and I LOVE your view! Must be peaceful listening to the waves, especially at night. All you have to do is open your window… Lucky… 🙂

    1. Brittany:
There is nothing more peaceful for me than the sound of the ocean. (And when the seas are even slightly high, I don't even have to open the window to hear the surf.)

  9. Change of season, when it's really summer you'll miss the breeze. It's a holiday resort, people don't go there when there's a strong wind all the time.
