Laughing Buddha Lolling

It rained a bit once or twice last week. The temperature dropped today to 21C/70F. Brrrr… Autumn is very clearly here. Yesterday (in the chilly autumn air) I took a long walk on the beach. I usually walk on the paved paseo alongside the beach. I needed a change. It’s a much better workout walking barefoot in the sand. I walked in and out of the surf (couldn’t manage walking “on” it, for some reason) and I was surprised at how comfortable the water felt. I could have gone for a swim. (Click any image to walk with me.)

LOOKING BACK… BUT NOT DWELLING.
STILL FISHING IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON.

I had my camera and my phone, so couldn’t go in the water beyond my knees. Still wonderful. It was interesting to see everything from another point of view (always a good way to live anyway). The small boats have been hauled up to the beach for their version of winter dry-dock. I spotted the model for Laughing Buddha (click here to meet him) taking a snooze on one of the beached boats. The sand sculptor himself was working on portraits (holding a photo in one hand as he worked on the details) and hauling buckets of water from the surf.

GENIUS AT WORK.

San Geraldo and I plan to be grown-ups tonight and go to a bar to hear some live music. I’m just hoping we don’t stop off for another siesta along the way. We’ll pass right by Laughing Buddha’s dry-docked boat-bed. (That’s like a sofa bed, only with a…. well, you probably figured it out.)

  1. Ahhh…..nothing better than walking barefoot in the sand….a great exfoliater and massage at the same time! Sure is chilly there!! Better watch that you don't 'catch your death' of cold!!

  2. What lovely blue waters and scenery you have. And to think you have it all at your fingertips, figuratively speaking! (I would be plenty nervous about those two lively kitties out on the veranda chasing birds too!)

The cats are fortunately smart enough not to jump. They hide under the bushes and wait for a bird to land. Fortunately, the birds have smart enough as well.

The colors here are just incredible. I don't know what to do with all the photos I take (it's a good thing they don't get printed anymore)!

I'm told it was an unusually mild October, but I doubt you wouldn't mind a normal October here. If it makes you feel any better, I'm wearing jeans and t-shirt today (but plenty of people are not). For me, yes, shorts yesterday… and the day before…

Thanks. I finally decided to see if I could figure out how to redo things.

I'm debating between a walk or a siesta right now. If you can be here if 15 minutes, we can go for a walk. If not… I think I'll opt for siesta!
