I bought a new set of watercolor markers yesterday. I’ll be exchanging them for a different set today. I have no idea what I was thinking. Obviously not much. I want lots of colors and fine points. I bought a set of 24 markers with only 12 colors and a variety of points, mostly thick. I at least feel like a made a little progress. (Let me believe that.) I want to start on a drawing for our friend Connor in Glasgow. He’s my inspiration.
The photo at top is of a banner that appeared in front of our neighborhood palace (I love saying that; it’s now home to the government of the province of Córdoba). It translates to “Being who I am” or “To be who I am.” Saturday, 28 of June is International Day of LGBTI+ Pride. The banner was erected by the provincial council of Córdoba. It made me happy to see it this morning.
Dudo spends about half his day on his old rug on the terrace. I think they feel more secure on the floor with the birds of all sizes regularly swooping by the windows.
We have a large ceramic pot with a tree in it between the kitchen and dining room. It’s intended to screen the view of the kitchen just a bit. We topped the pot with wood chips. At the time, I worried the cats (especially Dudo) would play with the chips and toss them all over the apartment. Amazingly, during these 6 months, neither cat showed any interest. Not even a sniff. Until this week! I keep finding chips scattered around the house. Maybe in another six months, I’ll find a cat on a chair on the terrace.
Obviamente no mucho. Quiero muchos colores y puntas finas.

That banner is indeed most pleasing! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
David:
It makes me happy to see it in our neighborhood.
I’m so happy to see the banner en español ! I’m so glad to see, here in the U.S., the many big displays and social media posts by all kinds of public entities, this year, in complete gleeful defiance of you-know-who’s policies.
I hope you’ll show us your art! I can’t wait to see what you create.
Judy C:
I can’t wait to see what I create!
Happy Pride!
Jim:
Ditto. Every day!
Very glad to see that banner! And the shrine like building, something like protect us under your sheltering wings?
Better luck on the next shopping trip. Boud
Boud:
Last time there I took a picture of the plaque around the corner and I even read it. Not this time. And I can’t remember a thing I read.
I have the same issue with Jeffrey and Potato Chips…
Sassybear:
Ah, poor Jeffrey!
Bummer about the markers, but yeah, you gotta get what you want. I love the banner!
Steve:
The banner makes me happy. I exchanged the markers!
Nice banner! 🌈 The chips might provide more little gifts of puke around the house.
I kinda feel sorry for the kitties. They’re letting their fears keep them from enjoying the benefits by not getting up on the chairs. Is there a lesson in that for all of us?
Kelly:
There’s absolutely a lesson and it’s one I’ll probably never learn! I hope they don’t start eating the chips. So far, they’re just being used like hockey pucks.
Good to see Pride in Cordoba – is there a parade or a festival? Jx
Jon:
Although Córdoba has a large gay population and comfortable presence, there doesn’t seem to be a parade. There are events around town beginning tomorrow.
Dudo and Moose better not let that news spread about in the Feline Community that they’re scared of BIRDS!
Debra:
Dudo and Moose are scared of shadows!
I want to see the tree
finlaygray:
I’ll share again soon. It’s an olive tree and it’s fake…
You and all the expatriates who decided to leave the US were so right to do so.
Beautiful banner. And I, too, hope that you will share your artwork.
Mary M.
Mary M:
I don’t know which banner you saw, it’s randomized, but I’m glad you liked it. I will definitely share my artwork. And, yes, we are so happy to be here for so many reasons.
Nice case those markers came in.
Kirk:
I know. Very classy … and I paid for it!
Took me a little bit to translate that sign in my head 🇪🇸 🌈

Adam:
But you did. Good going!
Connor inspires me, too, but not to draw. Maybe something other than the cats is scattering the chips.
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug:
I’ll have to set up a wildlife camera.
Dudo looks like he needs a hug, I know don’t try that if you value your skin.
David:
I’ll let you try the next time you see him. He’s graduated to allowing others to pet him.
