We have keys! We returned from Córdoba Tuesday evening with keys in hand. The meeting Monday with the agent and owner went smoothly (although the agent took forever to get through the contract). She drove us a little crazy, but all additions and corrections we noted were done. The awful original contract was clearly a result of the agent picking up an old contract and not changing a thing. The owner could not have been more pleasant.
I met Tynan for coffee this morning. San Geraldo is now having a pre-lunch siesta. And I’ll get back to cleaning out my storage spaces. I’ve even started on my clothes. Isabel’s daughter Cristina, an architect who works nearby, stayed overnight Monday with the cats. Isabel was here yesterday to clean. I can’t believe she won’t leave her husband for us.
San Geraldo found a great boutique hotel for us in Córdoba. Called SohoBoutique, it was halfway between the train station and our apartment. Seven minutes either direction. The most spacious, comfortable room we’ve had in a long time. There was even a lot of storage space. Unheard of in the most expensive places we’ve stayed in recent years. Beautifully decorated. Great windows (that actually opened). Large bathroom stocked with anything we might need (including shaving supplies, toothbrush and toothpaste). Plus, there were two dark chocolate squares atop the coffee cups. I could have eaten both and not said a word. SG never would have known, but I behaved. Breakfast was generous and delicious and we arrived right after a busload of tourists finished. What a relief.
We went for lunch at a popular place around the corner, El Poema. They serve a free tapa with each drink. We had two sodas and a bottle of water and received three tapas. San Geraldo ordered a second soda and we got another tapa. That was the best part of the meal.
We spent a couple of hours measuring all the spaces in the apartment. I’ll next draw a floor plan and do a preliminary placement of furniture to make the move-in much easier. We love the new place and can’t wait to get moved in and settled. Right now, there’s a lot to be done.
¡Tenemos llaves! Volvimos de Córdoba el martes por la noche con las llaves en la mano. La reunión del lunes con la agente y la propietaria transcurrió sin problemas (aunque la agente tardó una eternidad en revisar el contrato). Nos volvió un poco locos, pero se hicieron todos los añadidos y correcciones que notamos. El horrible contrato original fue claramente el resultado de que la agente retomara un contrato antiguo y no cambiara nada. La propietaria no podría haber sido más agradable.
Esta mañana me encontré con Tynan para tomar un café. San Geraldo ahora está haciendo una siesta antes del almuerzo. Y volveré a limpiar mis espacios de almacenamiento. Incluso he comenzado con mi ropa. La hija de Isabel, Cristina, una arquitecta que trabaja cerca, se quedó a pasar la noche el lunes con los gatos. Isabel estuvo aquí ayer para limpiar. No puedo creer que no deje a su marido por nosotros.
San Geraldo nos encontró un hotel boutique genial en Córdoba. Se llamaba SohoBoutique y estaba a medio camino entre la estación de tren y nuestro apartamento. Siete minutos en cada dirección. La habitación más amplia y cómoda que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo. Incluso había mucho espacio de almacenamiento, algo que no habíamos experimentado en los lugares más caros en los que nos hemos alojado en los últimos años. Estaba muy bien decorado. Tenía grandes ventanas (que de verdad se abrían). Un baño grande con todo lo que pudiéramos necesitar (incluidos productos de afeitado, cepillo de dientes y pasta de dientes). Además, había dos cuadrados de chocolate negro sobre las tazas de café. Podría haberme comido los dos y no haber dicho ni una palabra. SG nunca se habría enterado, pero me comporté bien. El desayuno fue generoso y delicioso y llegamos justo después de que terminara un autobús lleno de turistas. Qué alivio.
Fuimos a almorzar a un lugar popular a la vuelta de la esquina, El Poema. Sirven una tapa gratis con cada bebida. Tomamos dos refrescos y una botella de agua y nos dieron tres tapas. San Geraldo pidió un segundo refresco y nos dieron otra tapa. Esa fue la mejor parte de la comida.
Pasamos unas horas midiendo todos los espacios del apartamento. A continuación, dibujaré un plano del piso y haré una disposición preliminar de los muebles para que la mudanza sea mucho más sencilla. Nos encanta el nuevo lugar y estamos ansiosos por mudarnos e instalarnos. En este momento, hay mucho por hacer.
• Champiñones rellenos, albóndigas, brocheta de pollo. Todo buenísimo. Nuestra cuarta tapa fueron patatas bravas.
• Vista desde nuestra habitación del sexto piso.
• Felices en nuestra nueva terraza, que protegeremos con una mosquitera o cerraremos con una cortina de cristal.
• Amanecer de hoy en Fuengirola.
