Would You, Could You? / ¿Lo Harías? ¿Podrías?

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

WHILE WATCHING THE action offshore the other day, some lines from the Dr. Seuss book “Green Eggs and Ham” came to mind. I would not, could not, on a boat (I would not, could not, with a goat.) As for parasailing, flying high in the sky always looks so exciting to me. I would love to experience that. It’s coming back down that puts me off (especially when I see a bony skull printed on the sail).

  1. I don’t know… Like you I think the ‘flight’ would be fantastic. But I would be very afraid of the landing.

    1. Susan,
It’s like me on ladders. No problem climbing, but stepping onto a roof at the top sends me into panic.

  2. I never have, and with the middle of my spine, probably never will. Would I if I could, yes, I think I would.

  3. Well, I would not do that, prefere the feet on the ground 😊 But Sveinung would love to try it 😀

    1. Elin,
That doesn’t surprise me about Sveinung. You should come down so he can try it. If he did, I might!

    1. Judy,
These things are always so enticIng to me, but I never get up the nerve. Entonces, moi non plus.

  4. I would not and I could not. But……..I LOVE to watch the ones that do! The people that do this and parasurfing are in a league of their own. One needs a core of steel to do either.
Great photo series here, by the way.

    1. Jim,
Parasurfing, when done well, is so fun that watch. Core strength and a lot of patience to learn.

  5. I would, I could, I did, many years back while living on Maui. It’s fun, and the rise is thrilling, but the coming down can be sketchy feeling.

    1. Bob,
I watch these people come down and hit the water before popping back up. Sometimes it takes several tries. That’s the part I don’t like… and the stupid skull.

  6. I would have, when I was younger. But not now. I’m sure I don’t have the strength and coordination to do anything like that these days, if I ever did. But when you’re young, you somehow don’t care.

    1. Walt the Fourth,
I was less brave when I was younger, but I’m a lot more brittle now!

  7. NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! Now, I’ve been so miserably sick since last Thursday, that I would’ve tried it if there was a fast, painless death at the end of it. I’m better now so NOPE! I wouldn’t mind trying zip lining though. I know if I tried that, the theme from “George of the Jungle” would be going through my head until it was over. Balder Half can’t swim, but he’d do something like this. I don’t know why. My oldest son took up sky diving this year at 43. There’s something genetically wrong with those two! I wouldn’t even enjoy watching this kind of thing, because I know it is very, very rude to shout “You idiots!” over and over again. I can be polite.

    1. Deedles,
I would so love to watch this with you. Well, really, I would love to be standing nearby. Wouldn’t want anyone to think I was actually WITH the crazy woman. But it would sure be entertaining.

      1. So, crazy adjacent, huh? Tell you what, I’ll dress in a hot pink polka dot tank top, glow in the dark yellow shorts with green stripes and the left leg stuck inside my butt, bright orange crocs with red socks and a puce visor. We’ll make a day of it!

      2. Deedles:
The Crocs would make that outfit! I’ll wear the same outfit. Have you ever seen a bald man in a visor? It’s a very strange look. Other than that…
