Hat, plumes, pearls, and purse / Tocado, plumas, perlas, y bolso

It’s currently 20˚C/68˚F and only supposed to reach 30/86. A great day to get outside, and I will soon be there. I went out in the heat Saturday afternoon and quickly returned. It was hotter than I expected and I petered out quickly, deciding it was better to be air-conditioned.

We’re amassing projects around the house and will soon, I think, have 10 hours of 10-minute projects. Today’s photos are simply more sights I’ve recently seen around town. Given the weather (although temperatures will climb again tomorrow) and the end of summer vacations, I should start seeing a lot more people on the streets. Shops should be returning to normal hours, too. All I’ve been doing most days is window shopping. My new lavendar-ish ensemble is an example. I have only admired it (well, gawked at it) through the glass.

Solo lo he admirado (bueno, me he quedado boquiabierto) a través del cristal.

• The lights are on but there’s nobody home.
• My new house. I love a fixer-upper and I regularly fantasize about this one. I can’t remember why there were buntings on the street that day.
• Sometimes it takes me a moment to figure out how Dudo is put together.

  1. Dude looks if his legs have been slotted in wrong!
That DIY house looks as if there were more doors and windows. it must be dark in there or maybe the opposite wall was opened. It’s certainly private from the street side. Maybe there’s a courtyard. Now I’m intrigued.
You survived your Cordoba August, well done.

    1. Boud:
At either end of my new house there are big courtyard gardens with some mature trees (like those palms you see in background). There are always courtyards. There are or were probably also single story extensions to the house where you see a window or door. But there’s so much natural light in the house thanks to the missing roof.

    1. Sillygirl:
Fortunately, Dudo is built like a transformer. Everything snaps into place automatically.

    1. Bob:
That house intrigues me. I, too, wish I could twist like Dudo (without groaning in agony when I untwist).

  2. I would buy the fan for J, he often carries folding fans, I am the one who wears silly hats to keep the sun out of my eyes. The upper floor of the house seems to be rather bright, either very large skylights, or it needs a new roof.

    1. David:
J will be in heaven in the fan shops here. Yes, I see you notice the enormous skylight upstairs. It goes from one end to the other, only it doesn’t keep the rain out.

    1. wickedhamster:
David thought so! You would be in heaven in the fan shops here. You’d need an extra suitcase.

      1. Nah, he’s perfect just the way he is! Ooh, I also like that purple hat! I have an outfit that would go perfectly with that thing.

  3. All right. My heart almost exploded when I saw that fan. I am a fan girl. No, not that kind. All women of a certain age and above need desperately to have a fan within arm’s reach at all times. I have one in my purse, one in my car. Several in my home. When I was in the throes of menopause and hot flashes would overtake me, I had one special fan, made of feathers, that worked better than anything for relief. I got the fan at some sort of fund raiser with a mardi gras theme. It was a table decoration. I stole it. I am not ashamed.
In fact, that whole lavender ensemble makes me feel better, knowing that somewhere on earth there is such beauty.
Dudo. Do you suppose that when he wakes up he is momentarily unsure of how to undo his limbs?

    1. Judy C:
Hours spent outside yesterday and it was glorious from morning til night. I slept until 11 today!

  4. I’m gawking, too. And coveting.

“Rhett, you wouldn’t mind terribly much, would you, if I wear purple to the cotillion?”

    1. Olivia:
So do I. The materials used in some of the most basic homes and apartment buildings. Wow.

    1. Steve:
I don’t catch the majority of Dudo’s wild poses. He usually snaps back into original form at the slightest sound.

  5. Indeed, that is a good temp for walking. We have started walking in the early evening when it is cooler.
Now, THAT is a wonderful looking ‘fixer-upper’!

    1. Jim:
Oh the fantasies I have about that house (private palace, I would assume). I walked most of yesterday and even last night. It was glorious.

    1. finlaygray:
Our first house was a fixer upper (money pit). You would think I’d be over that by now.

  6. It sounds like I’m gonna have to fight some of your commenters for that fan. Maybe they have more than one in stock. It’s stunning… especially the color!

    1. Kelly:
The fans in that shop are artisan and mostly one-of-a-kind. But if you get here quickly…
