IN 1986 OUR nephews, Ryan and Matt, visited us (with their parents, Linda and Tom) when we lived in Georgetown in Washington DC. Tom, an American history buff, and Linda, a 2nd-grade teacher. took the boys to as many national monuments as they could manage in one day, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and past the White House, the National Mall, and the Capitol Building before meeting San Geraldo at his office at the Library of Congress for lunch.

“Matt, what was the best thing you saw today?” asked Uncle San Geraldo.

“Uncle Jerry… we were in the park… and a squirrel came this close to me,” Matt gushed ecstatically holding his hand inches away from his face.

Matt and his wife Lindy are currently in Washington D.C. for a little winter break. Lindy sent this photo and caption. Matt’s still irresistible.
