We have a new bank account. The staff at the new bank were a pleasure. The process was not smooth. For some reason, SG could not receive text messages from the bank. And that’s the only way online business is done, so we still have to get that figured out. It was slow-going. By the end I had several text messages and 15 email messages, only two of which I had to take action on.
Yesterday was Merchi day which meant it was our day out for coffee and second breakfast. After the two hours at the bank, we stopped at Roldán where the food is good but the service is usually not, We actually had decent service. We were there for perhaps a half hour. Just coffee and Magdalenas (muffins, not women). Then, continuing the walk home, we stopped at the public health center to try and fix an appointment for SG. That turned out to be another headache. Two women helped us. One listened. The other, extremely pleasant, did not. So she would go off to work on a solution only to come back with misinformation. We now wait for someone to phone from the center.
We finally had lunch at home at 3. At 5, I was back to bed and slept more than 3 hours. I had taken Paracetamol, something I should not do during the day because it knocks me out. Lighweight! During Tuesday’s walk, when almost everything was closed for the Virgin of the Fuensanta, I passed a space under renovation and realized that’s where a Mexican restaurant used to be. The reviews of the restaurant were mixed (those in the know didn’t like it) but it had that “authentic” look that jazzed up the street. You can see the restaurant above and the in-progress renovation below. It’s going to be an herbal shop. Not of interest to me.
The Kid Brother was fine. He told me he might have a new job in his neighborhood, being arranged by his office. I don’t know where. I don’t know what. I don’t know when. But he’s confident. I’ll get in touch with the office today to find out what’s going on. Maybe that will mean he won’t need more financial help after this month.
Now we wait for my new bank card. San Geraldo won’t receive one until we get his texting issue resolved. We were told we have to go to the service provider (a taxi ride to the only shopping center in town with a Vodafone store). I don’t expect much from them, but we’ll try.
We still have spots in the bathroom ceiling from a leak the last time it rained more than three months ago. And now San Geraldo said there’s a leak elsewhere in the bathroom ceiling, obviously not from the rain. To top it off, there appears to be a short in the recessed ceiling lights in the dining room. So, now I have to explain that all to the owner. She has an exceptional electrician. As for plumbers. Not one has been successful with the leak from the roof. I’m burnt out and my fuse is short.
I did some window-shopping. A shirt I often see in the more traditional men’s clothing stores has caught my eye. It’s called a guayabera, often called Cubana here in Spain. I find it interesting and I do see them worn on the streets, however always by “older men.” They’ve probably all been younger than me, but that’s not saying much, so I don’t think I’ll buy one. I’ve shared below two photos from shop windows and one of King Felipe VI, as well. What do you think?
Solo café y magdalenas (bollos, no mujeres).
No me interesa.

• All this for the line at minute 4:24, which is what I trilled on our way to the health center.
