The photo above is ofan oddly interesting wall and door not far from us. On the corner in the same building is a shop called Ofisur (IT Solutions). I hadn’t noticed until this week that the brick wall along the side was pressed with the letters REYVE, which when I look it up indicates it’s a hardware and software business. I wondered if that was the address on the door or a security code. Either way, it’s no help. It’s located on Puerta Osario, the site of one of the original city gates from Roman times. It was significantly altered beginning in the early 18th century until it was finally demolished in 1905.
San Geraldo is still working his way through his lab tests and things are progressing. He’d much prefer focusing on other things, like which tropical fish to choose. I think he’s down to 10 options, or maybe it’s 100. Somewhere in that range.
We went back to El Tecolote Antojitos Mexicanos restaurant the other night. They’ve added new dishes to the menu and it was as good as last time. The weather was still so hot at 10 p.m. that not a soul sat outside.
San Geraldo baked two big loaves of banana bread. Heavenly. We each had a serving last night. They won’t last long.
We went yesterday afternoon to pick up San Geraldo’s new national identity card and now we supposedly will not have to go back for another 10 years. He didn’t need my help but I went with him because he suggested we go out to lunch from there. It was so hot, and now that August is here there’s no telling what’s open and what’s not (everyone has left for the beach), that we decided to just come home for lunch. Oh well. I waited for him in the cool entryway and enjoyed sitting with him in the taxis.
Speaking of the beach, our year-round housekeeper, Merchi, is in Fuengirola for the summer. Her summer replacement, the delightful Elena (and not just because her name makes us think of our chosen family, the goddess Elena, in Fuengirola), is now at the beach, as well. For three weeks! Last year, she went for two weeks and we survived. But her husband was able to take three weeks this time and she didn’t want to miss the opportunity to spend those weeks together with him on the beach. So, I guess I should clean the house. Or maybe not. How bad could it get in three weeks?
I’m going to brave the heat and go out for a bit of a walk this afternoon while laundry dries on the roof.
¡Deliciosos! Anoche comimos un trozo cada uno. No durarán mucho.
