Salad cake / Tarta ensalada

SAN GERALDO FINALLY BAKED THE promised chocolate cake. It, of course, is indescribably delicious. He tried to tell me there was nothing healthy about it, but I had already prepared my scientific defense.

Chocolate comes from a tree called the Theobroma cacao. The Theobroma cacao is a fruit tree. Cacao (cocoa) beans are the seeds of the fruit of the Theobroma cacao tree. By my reasoning, chocolate is therefore fruit (remember I’m the guy who thought he could jump off that wall and land on his feet the other day). That makes San Geraldo’s chocolate cake a salad of sorts.

San Geraldo added eggs. So, it might even be considered a high-protein snack. My body feels a bit better today, less achy, more flexible. And, except for a slightly swollen ring finger, my hand is looking a lot better. I’m sure it’s the chocolate salad cake with added protein.

SAN GERALDO FINALMENTE HORNEÓ LA prometida tarta de chocolate. Por supuesto, es indescriptiblemente delicioso. Intentó decirme que no tenía nada de saludable, pero ya había preparado mi defensa científica.

El chocolate proviene de un árbol llamado Theobroma cacao. Theobroma cacao es un árbol frutal. Los granos de cacao (cacao) son las semillas del fruto del árbol de Theobroma cacao. Aloe Vera, Salmon Rose / Aloe Vera, Rosa de Salmón

THE ALOE FLOWERS are opening from bottom to top on their stems and our back hall is aglow with golden hues. In its own way, it’s delicious, but not as delicious as the beautiful salmon and mango “rose” salad I had the other day at Mesón Salvador. (Click here for last year’s flowering aloes.)

LAS FLORES DE áloe se abren de abajo a arriba en sus tallos y nuestra sala trasera está iluminada con tonos dorados. A su manera, es delicioso, pero no tan delicioso como la hermosa ensalada de “rosa” de salmón y mango que comí el otro día en Mesón Salvador. Real Good Salad

San Geraldo has been doing his seasonal baking. While waiting for his lemon bars to come out of the oven the other day, he perused his mother’s box of recipes once again. That can be quite entertaining. One recipe, called “Real Good Salad,” has ingredients that make it the perfect side salad for a Sunday roast (or maybe not). You can decide.

Since San Geraldo decided against making “Real Good Salad,” here are two of the real good things he did make.

Dietary Supplements

Wednesday late afternoon, after a wonderful few hours spent with old friends from San Diego, I had an emotional crash. My other old friend, Self-Loathing, dropped in for a visit. I really need to end that friendship. I hate that guy.

I do not, however, hate San Geraldo. Knowing it would make me feel better, he picked up a bag of assorted chocolate bombones. They’re a great mood-enhancer, an excellent aid for digestion, and a powerful dietary supplement before and after a workout. (I might be making that up).
