AS I EXITED the Brooklyn Bridge walkway (click here) and crossed Park Drive into Lower Manhattan, I heard some laughter and noticed a small crowd. A group of shirtless men (some eye candy) were setting up some kind of street performance and had an entertaining patter with the crowd. I stopped to watch. They were entertaining and they collected donations before the actual act. They asked for $20, knowing they’d get less. I gave them what they asked for. I was generous because the patter was good and the money had to be shared. I’m glad I helped them make a living. However, next time I’ll wait until I see what I’m paying for.
CUANDO SALÍ DE la pasarela del Puente de Brooklyn (haz clic aquí) y atravesé el Park Drive hacia Bajo Manhattan, oí algunas risas y noté una pequeña multitud. Un grupo de hombres sin camisas (algun festival para el ojo) estaban estableciendo algún tipo de espectáculo callejero y tenían un entretenido parloteo con la multitud. Me detuve a mirar. Eran entretenidos y recogieron donaciones antes del acto real. Pedían $20, sabiendo que obtendrían menos. Les di lo que pedían. Yo era generoso porque el parloteo era bueno y el dinero tenía que ser compartido. Me alegro de haberles ayudado a ganarse la vida. Sin embargo, la próxima vez voy a esperar hasta ver lo que estoy pagando.
