I didn’t go out yesterday to see any of the processions. I haven’t been able to figure out where I should be today, so I plan to instead hit the streets tomorrow for the big day. The Resurrection. Tomorrow’s procession is supposed to be colorful and celebratory. I’ll try to get out of bed early and catch it when it’s only about five minutes from us.
Today’s photos are more from my day at the botanic gardens with Elena. And I’ve ended with a brief, happy video of the cats finishing up a recent adventure in the hall. At those moments, you would never know how bad their health actually was.
San Geraldo and I are both doing OK despite missing Moose and Dudo. I still watch my step when I walk around the house. I still look into rooms to see if the boys are there. And I sidestep non-existent cat dishes. Last night, I woke up at the typical times the cats would have sounded the treats alarm. Old habits die hard.

I enjoyed watching the boys walk down the hall. Trust me, I understand when you say that old habits die hard. I am glad to read that you and SG are doing okay. Enjoy the Easter weekend.
Michael:
I wonder how long it will take before I stop looking for vomit as I walk through the apartment! SG, too. Hope you’re having a wonderful Easter.
Yes, hard to believe how they really were at that point. But the gardens help. Boud
Boud:
Their behavior made it so difficult for us to make the decision. “But they’re still happy.” We finally accepted that they WERE suffering and we didn’t want to wait until life became unbearable for them. Still, it’s not easy watching that video and realizing that was just a few hours before we took them to the vet. And, yes, the gardens do help.
Nice Bonsai garden! My only Bonsai did survive the winter here in a shed.
Ah….nice to see the boys.
Jim:
I love bonsai and have never had success. They require more than I could offer.
It’s been my experience that bonsais are hard to keep alive.
Nice to see the boys one last time.
ellen abbott:
Yes, that’s been my experience, too. They require environment, care, and calm that I just could never muster.
I love bonsai! And yes, I know Groot from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy superheroes movie franchise. He’s the best friend of Rocket the Raccoon.
Debra:
I have since read all about Groot. If I had your number, I would have texted you. I even thought, Debra (and Sean) would know who that is.
I call bonsai “guilt in a dish” because I have killed every one I got.
Oh, those dear old boy cats. Still light on their feet, still up for a brotherly dance.
I swear to you, I dreamed the other night of a man named Groot. I woke up thinking how very odd that was.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon:
A perfect name for bonsai! That’s been my experience, too. When we left the states, I gave away 6 beautiful bonsai pots of varying sizes. Of course, they were empty. Your dreams are in sync with my life!
White Irises are one of the wonders of nature.
wickedhamster:
Those were the only two there, but they were stunning.
“I am Groot!” The voice was that of Vin Diesel – of all people – and he was paid handsomely for it, just repeating the line over and over again (although he was not paid the $54m that has become widespread on the gossip-web; director James Gunn pooh-poohed that idea)…
Gorgeous irises. Happy cat memories. Jx
Jon:
I really knew nothing about Groot until I wrote this post. I then read all about him… including the statements about Vin Diesel’s salary.
Loved the video of The Boys in The Hall!
And the botanical garden looks like a great way to spend a day!
Bob:
I look forward to returning to the gardens with SG when things are growing everywhere. He’ll love it.
Ah yes, Groot! I wouldn’t have remembered his name but I know the character.
I know just what you mean about waking at treat time and that kind of thing. For a while after Olga died I’d still take a walk first thing in the morning just because it was our habit! It’s nice to see them frolicking in the hall despite their infirmity.
Steve:
As I watched Dudo play with Moose and them both run, I thought, “What are we doing?” But Moose threw up painfully a short time later and Dudo waited to be served another treat he wouldn’t eat.
Beautiful flowers and I loved seeing the boys making their exit down the hallway.
I like Groot, but I like Baby Groot even better!
Kelly:
I’ll have to watch a video or two. I’ve never seen either Groot in action.
Sending virtual hugs your way.
David:
Thanks. Always appreciated. Sending some back to you.
Awwww, sweet to see 🙂
Judy C:
And for me to watch again and again.
Oh, Mitchell, I’ve been away from the internet for a few days and did not know about Dudo and Moose. I am very, very sorry for your and San Geraldo’s loss.
Kirk:
Thanks so much. A tough week but it was time.
I’ve never been introduced to Groot. It’s nice to see the boys prancing for those brief seconds. I’m sure you’ll expect to see them for a long time, or you’ll at least miss them. I still miss Franklin and Penelope.
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug:
I’ve never been introduced to Groot either. But I’ve since read that he’s not much of a talker anyway.
Good memories to savor.
We’re going through grief, here, too. Both the husband and I, and Lilo’s litter mate, Etta. She keeps looking for Lilo in her usual places. It’s so heartbreaking.
Rade:
How sad. We went through that with two cats in the States. It was hearbreaking. Wishing you and Etta better days.
I know from experience that it really takes a long time to get used to the absence of those little creatures in your life. This is when you realize how attached you are to them.
larrymuffin:
Yes, it does. We’ve also been through it before.
May the Easter time but a time of resurrection and joy for you both.
