We arrived in Córdoba Thursday night and spent the first two nights in a hotel. Dudo and Moose spent those nights alone in the new apartment, which we love despite the boxes, and packing paper, and flattened cardboard, and general mess. The cats were ecstatic when we set up the bed Saturday and Dudo did not leave our sides for a moment. The photo above is our view from our hotel room in Fuengirola on our last night (Wednesday). Tuesday, we went to Primavera for diner with Lulu, Rita, and Rita’s sister, Anne. I have loads of photos of our Primavera family from that night. They gave us a wonderful, loving send-off. We got connectivity today in the apartment. Mine is working just fine. San Geraldo is connected but can’t “connect” to anything. We paid for super WiFi because our offices are so far away from each other. SG’s office is closer to the modem. Another headache, I guess. This is a brief post with a “video” of one minute of our 2-hour drive. The only time (seconds) that Moose stopped making noise can be heard on the video. The second brief video is the weather Monday morning on our walk to the cafe for breakfast. We were two minutes from home. It hailed! San Geraldo strained his back a couple of days ago. It only hurts when he’s in bed, tries to get up, or moves without considering it. More to come soon of our comical adventures. San Geraldo asks, “Who’s laughing?”

It is so great to hear from you! You survived and so did the boys. I would carefully count the boxes to make sure there are not more tomorrow than there are today. I don’t trust the boxes when left alone, I think they make more little boxes when we aren’t watching.
David:
I’m sure the filled boxes are dwindling, but the paper and flattened boxes are taking over the house. Their removal had been SG’s job, but his poor back. I initially shared the wrong Moose video. I just replaced it,
Ah, the trials and tribulations of house moves! We’ve done it several times (not as many as you, of course) – and yes, it is rare for everything to go to plan in its entirety. Glad you’re there safe.
It’s remarkable how quickly the cats adapt to new surroundings, but I guess it is in their natural instinct to explore and claim new territory… Jx
PS Thank heavens you haven’t got the weather that Valencia had!
Jon:
We were having lunch at El Corte Inglés during the worst of that storm. Top floor, no windows, but it sounded like the roof would crash in. Still, nothing like Valencia and parts of Málaga province. Disastrous.
Poor Moose. He sounds so desperate! So glad to see a post from you — I wondered how you both were faring with all the rain. Is there flooding in your area?
Steve:
Moose broke our hearts. Now he acts like nothing ever happened. No flooding here. That was apparently left in Málaga and Valencia provinces. Absolutely awful.
Oh, gracious, I hadn’t heard about any disastrous rains in Spain!
J Chabot:
I think there have been 95 deaths reported. Horrific flooding in Valencia and Málaga provinces. We’ve had lots of rain and thunder and lightning but no flood or danger. We’re supposed to have steady rain again this afternoon and it will then clear for several days.
Oops!
Was also going to say, of course, great to see you again… And it’s funny to me how cats who know they are with the humans who love them, can still cry and cry and cry and cry, as if they’ve been left out in the rain. They must’ve really wondered what an earth was up when you guys left them at the apartment by themselves!!
J Chabot:
Moose sounded like he was being tortured for 2 hours. We thought we’d go nuts. Dudo let out a mew every so often but left the best to Moose. Now, they jut want constant love and attention.
As we use to say ” It must be a bit worse before it’s getting better”
🥰
Elin:
Well, we are certainly following the rules then!
The apartment, what we can see of it, looks wonderful, light filled! Despite the looks we’re getting from cats..
That was me, Boud.
Boud:
We felt so sorry for Moose (and ourselves) during the drive. The apartment, despite the mess, is uplifting.
You guys did it!! Now it all doesn’t have to be done in a day! Time to catch your collective breaths.
Jim:
I was calculating yesterday how soon I’d be done if I did 4 boxes a day. It WILL be fine. But it sure is awful right now.
Oh my gosh! Here you are! You’ve done it. You survived the move. There was never any doubt. I am not sure how you endured Moose’s crying the entire trip though. Bless his heart and bless y’all’s hearts.
Hail? Good Lord. How was the cafe? I surely hope that SG’s back gets better soon. I swear- everyone in my family is going through severe back issues right now.
Sigh. Ms. Moon
Ms. Moonsigh:
The 2-hour drive was emotional torture. The cafe serves exceptional coffee and tostadas and it’s got a full bakery which is dangerously good. SG is absolutely miserable and I feel awful that there’s nothing I can do to help. He’s never had back problems. Just tweaked something the wrong way and he said he knew he was doing it before it happened. So frustrating.
Welcome to your new digs. Looks like a lot of work ahead to get all settled in. On the video, sounds like Moose is saying “help help help”, LOL.
Anon:
I thought Moose’s language was a bit inappropriate at times.
Glad you’re there and all your stuff survived the hydraulic lift! Did you get them to haul away that piano?
Debra:
Oh, forgot to mention, no outside elevator at this end. The city would only approve if it was done during the night, which seemed kind of strange. But the street would have needed to be blocked off the entire time. The team did well and only made about 4 trips up the 7 flights of stairs!
Was there no indoor elevator either? Seven flights — my gawd. But better them than you, I suppose.
Debra,
Two very small indoor elevators. Some furniture just wouldn’t fit.
Debra:
And, also no, the ugly piano is still here.
Understandably.
I’m glad to learn that you all made it in one piece, Scoot! Undoubtedly, Dudo & Moose will acclimate very quickly to their new surroundings as long as you keep their treats coming on time, LOL!
Tundra Bunny:
Dudo and Moose are simply happy we’re all together again. And, yes, the treats never stop.
At least Dudo enjoyed the trip, or at least didn’t seem to mind as much as Moose.
Kirk:
Every so often Dudo would let out a pathetic little mew (you can hear him on the video) but Moose was so insistent that Dudu just let him have center stage.
Finally….I bet you glad that is over!!!! And I understood every word Moose was saying…he was telling me how beautiful the countryside drive was and was getting cranky because of hunger pains.
Mistress Borghese:
I just wish the boxes would magically finish unpacking themselves, the contents would decide where they belong, and the paper and cardboard would magically disappear. Imagine two hours of Moose!
I have been looking forward to this post! I am glad that you’ve successfully made the move and look forward to reading about your new adventures. Hopefully Moose will relax now! I have read in the last couple of days of the flooding in Spain. I hope you’ve managed to stay somewhat dry despite being in a hail storm!
Michael:
All the buildings between us and a popular cafe have overhangs out front and are all attached. We have to cross two small streets exposed to the weather, but the rest of the way is protected. It’s wonderful. We, Córdoba province, haven’t experienced the flooding. Valencia and Málaga provinces have been devastatingly hit.
The thought of moving fills me with dread…and you two have done it so many times! That first video could almost be California.
Frank D:
I still love the change and learning about a new place, but this unpacking has gotten old!
Frank D:
I forgot to comment on the California comparison. Absolutely! I was in Andalusia on business in 2005. It was my first time here and I told SG it looked just like Southern California and would be an easy adjustment. Same plants and terrain. Great for our gardening experience.
Hooray! I’m glad to see a new post! Tell SG I’m not laughing. I sympathize with his pain. Moose sounded so pitiful.
Even with all the unpacking, it looks so spacious and bright. I’m looking forward to regular posts again.
Kelly:
Poor guy. He at least says today it doesn’t seem to be getting any worse. The apartment does feel great even in the mess.
I too hope those crazy cats settle soon and feel at home.
Urspo:
The cats are more settled here than we are.
