I can see clearly now / Ahora puedo ver claramente

Well, I can’t honestly see clearly yet. But the dining room table and the pub table have been emptied and we can now arrange the furniture. Unfortunately, I have to go down to Málaga tomorrow to see the nephrologist. So, things will have to wait until Thursday. But we’re making progress. And we keep coming up with things we’d like to buy (groan).

We met our new public health doctor yesterday. I have to bring her my most recent documents (lab results and report) from my doctor in Málaga. She can then refer me to a nephrologist here. I’m still waiting for a call from a nephrologist at Public Health Fuengirola. The last time I was there I was told it could take up to 10 months. It’s been almost 5. I hope Córdoba is better. It looks promising. I made my next appointment with the doctor here and they apologized because the soonest available was in 10 days. Our backs are improving but slowly.

San Geraldo has an appointment tonight for a scan, just to be sure. Although our backs ache and we’re buried in boxes, paper, banks, doctors, city hall, address changes, and the rest, we both agree we love Córdoba.

We were invited to dinner at Mauricio and Diego’s apartment Sunday night. Had a very pleasant dinner and watched the sunset from their terrace. They live about a half-hour walk from us. Normally, I would enjoy that, but our backs throb with each step (mine, not as much today). Taxi!

The dishwasher works. The clothes washer works. I cleaned them and ran them both before actually using them. Both good quality (now that they’re clean). Any of the neighbors we’ve met have been extremely friendly. And every time I leave the building, I realize I’m smiling at what I see in this wonderful city. So much exploring to do.

Most importantly, the cats seem to love the apartment. More space to explore. Longer halls to race down. I go out on the terrace with them, which they love. We’ll soon get it enclosed for their constant use. And they still get six treats a day (seven yesterday because they tricked me).

• Across the street. Retaining the old with the new. Imagine the feet that trod those stones.
• Al otro lado de la calle. Conservando lo antiguo con lo nuevo. Imaginen los pies que pisaron esas piedras.
• Sunset from Diego and Mauricio’s Sunday night.
• A fur-covered building? (Really black plastic grass).
¿Un edificio cubierto de piel? (En realidad, césped de plástico negro).

  1. Good to hear things continue to progress – those cats don’t appear to be homesick for Fuengirola at all!

Love the fact that the old Roman/Visigoth/Moorish/whatever foundations are left as part of the pavement – old and new are side-by-side all over that city, it seems… Jx

    1. Jon:
The only things the cats miss, I think, is being able to come and go on the terrace. We’ll have to invest in that soon. Oh, how I love this city!

  2. Good to hear some progress has been made on that EVERLASTING list of things to do and buy after a move. You will get there.
    Good luck with your appointments.
Sounds like a good move is in the making.

    1. Jim:
The backs may ache. The chores may be overwhelming at times. But this is such a good move!

  3. Oh, Mitch, your happiness, and send Geraldo’s happiness, and dodo and moose’s happiness. I’ll make me happy 🙂 Nice to “meet” you, Diego and Mauricio :j

      1. Oh, my goodness… I was so anxious to comment, while on my iPad, that I did voice to text there, and didn’t see the ridiculous mess it put out. Sorry.

        1. Judy C:
I wondered about that Hilarious. I have a cousin who’s NYC accent is nasal and overpowering. She used to drive to and from work and text me using voice to text. Oh dear god. I had no clue what she was talking about. At least with yours I got the gist! (Anyway, sometimes I have no idea what she’s talking about in person.)

  4. I look forward to seeing your new city through your eyes. You will show us wonderful, interesting places and new friends. Are you stretching gently to help your back? Will the cats teach me how to trick someone into giving me extra treats?

    Love,
    Janie

    1. janiejunebug:
Yes, I’m stretching gently. The cats won’t share their tricks. The little stinkers. They do like to play us off each other. “He hasn’t given us anything all day!”

    1. David:
I look forward to having it together enough to share pictures of the apartment. Córdoba is truly beautiful.

  5. Some parts of moving take longer than others, don’t they? Sounds like you guys are really getting it all together, one (painful) step at a time. I know you’ll be relieved when you have a nephrologist in Cordoba.
I am sure that Moose and Dudo are absolutely fine. They have their treats and the humans who dispense them. What more could they ask? Besides more treats.

    1. Ms. Moonsigh-mother-of-the-groom:
Dudo and Moose are clearly very happy. They chase their toys around the house. They sleep. They eat. They demand attention. It’s a joy. And, great news, the dining room table is now clear of all the unpacking (which is stashed all over the place)!

  6. Boud here seeing that you’re in a great new place, apartment and city both. New friends already. Cats deigning to accept the new palatial quarters. It’s all good.

  7. Jeebus, I thought the potholes here were bad, but they got nothin’ on old Roman roads, LOL! Looks like the boys are settling in nicely, especially since they are napping so soundly…. check your email for a healthy serving of Ormie, Scoot!

    1. Tundra Bunny:
How do you suppose they ever walked in their stilettos? The boys are content. I checked my email. No serving of Ormie.

  8. So pleased that your move is going so well…..(give or take bad backs etc).
Any photos of your new friends? We need to see who you are hanging out with!!
    Frances

    1. Frances:
I meant to take photos of the meal and the four of us, but we talked so much I forgot!

    1. wickedhamster:
Isn’t that bizarre?!? It’s a texture I want to touch but who knows what’s already touched that!
