We had an eventful night around here. We had rain. I missed it and it didn’t amount to much but I woke up to see the lightning as it moved east. I immediately worried about wildfires. There are enough of those.
Before I woke to see the lightning, San Geraldo had been awakened by an approximately 5.2 magnitude earthquake at 1:04 a.m. I slept through that, too. It was in Granada province, about 200 km/125 miles southeast of us and the quake lasted about 6 minutes, followed over hours by another quake and a long series of aftershocks. I haven’t read that anyone was hurt, but gargoyles, and cornices fell from historic buildings and it appears there was significant structural damage in that area. I trimmed and slowed my lightning video to make it more interesting (at least I hope so).
San Geraldo’s printer wasn’t feeding paper consistently so he went to YouTube to learn what to do. He finally did find a video that clearly and easily explained the process, and all is well. However, in the process of researching the process, he came across a video that had him gasping in shock and, after he told me about it, I asked him to send me the link. Of course, he couldn’t find the link (the story of SG’s life) but he was able to give me the poster’s name (surprisingly), so I found it myself and grabbed a series of screen shots. The poster who demonstrated what part needed to be cleaned, opened a very dirty and dingy printer to expose cobwebs, dead and live insects, dust, crumbs, and general filth. It was truly disgusting. Even his fingernails were filthy and in desperate need of a trim. I thought he was going to demonstrate how to clean a neglected printer but he didn’t even comment on the state of things. He simply found his way to the roller that controlled the paper feed, dipped his dirty finger in dirty water, and wiped it down. Voila! Problem solved.
Tuvimos una noche movida por aquí. Llovió. Me lo perdí y no pasó gran cosa, pero me desperté y vi un relámpago mientras se desplazaba hacia el este. Inmediatamente me preocupé por los incendios forestales. Ya hay suficientes.
Antes de que me despertara y viera el relámpago, San Geraldo se había despertado por un terremoto de magnitud aproximada de 5.2 a la 1:04 a. m. También dormí durante eso. Fue en la provincia de Granada, a unos 200 km/125 millas al sureste de nosotros, y el temblor duró unos 6 minutos, seguido durante horas por otro temblor y una larga serie de réplicas. No he leído que nadie resultara herido, pero se cayeron gárgolas y cornisas de edificios históricos y parece que hubo daños estructurales importantes en esa zona. Recorté y ralenticé mi vídeo de rayos para hacerlo más interesante (al menos eso espero).
La impresora de San Geraldo no alimentaba el papel de forma constante, así que buscó en YouTube qué hacer. Finalmente encontró un video que explicaba el proceso de forma clara y sencilla, y todo está bien. Sin embargo, mientras investigaba el proceso, se topó con un video que lo dejó boquiabierto y, después de que me lo contara, le pedí que me enviara el enlace. Por supuesto, no pudo encontrar el enlace (la historia de la vida de SG), pero sí pudo darme el nombre del autor (sorprendentemente), así que lo encontré yo mismo y tomé varias capturas de pantalla. El autor que mostraba qué parte necesitaba limpieza, abrió una impresora muy sucia y mugrienta para dejar al descubierto telarañas, insectos muertos y vivos, polvo, migas y suciedad en general. Era realmente asqueroso. Incluso sus uñas estaban sucias y necesitaban urgentemente un corte. Pensé que iba a demostrar cómo limpiar una impresora descuidada, pero ni siquiera comentó el estado de las cosas. Simplemente encontró el rodillo que controlaba la alimentación del papel, metió su dedo sucio en agua sucia y lo limpió. ¡Listo! Problema resuelto.

The storm was so exciting here I stayed up until 4am watching it! I didn’t bother bringing in the laundry when it started. I assumed it was the typical 20 seconds of drip.drop. Oh well! The plants got a much needed watering around here. That printer could have been taken from my dad’s house hehe.
The planet seems very restless lately. Earthquakes happening all over.
Well, you guys certainly had some dramatic weather going on there. Earthquakes AND lightning storms. We had some pretty serious lightning here yesterday evening too. Sometimes we’re reminded that we have absolutely no control in certain natural events.
Now you’ve got me wondering what the inside of our printer looks like. Hopefully not THAT bad. Those fingernails…

How’s the aquarium coming? I think that even before fish are introduced to the situation, the water and the plants and the hum of the filter can be very soothing.
