Our great new Smart TV, which replaced our 11-year-old slightly Smart TV, has a screen-saver that displays art and photos from all over the world. Usually, I have no idea where the works are or who created them, but I recently saw a mural I found fascinating and I was able to find its origin and artists. At first, I didn’t understand what looks like mere code at the bottom of the image (that’s what I often find there and it leads me nowhere). I mean, what could RAM Klit be (although I had my juvenile ideas).
It turns out RAM is the tag Portuguese urban artist Miguel Caeiro has used since 1997. And Klit is Freddy Klit, another Portuguese urban artist. They often collaborate and are members of Thunders Crew, a street artist collective founded in 2013 and based in Lisbon. The mural (above) is called Iris Flower and was painted on Rua de Campolide, Lisbon, in 2012. But don’t go looking for this mural in Portugal; it no longer exists. I think the building is gone. Inspired by the screen savers, today’s images are what I found to be artsy on my recent walkabouts.
Today is Elena Day (Merchi’s summer replacement; we adore her) and another visit to La Bandera for coffee and second breakfast. We just returned and San Geraldo immediately ran out the door for a trip to the supermarket before the heat becomes unpleasant. It’s already so, but still has a long way to climb in the next few hours. It hits me in the face when I walk out the door in the afternoon when the temperature is above 42˚C/107˚F. It helps that at 8 this morning it was only 20˚C/68˚F. I wish we had some RAM Klit around town for a major dose of cool.
Nuestro nuevo y fantástico Smart TV, que sustituyó a nuestro antiguo Smart TV de 11 años, tiene un protector de pantalla que muestra arte y fotos de todo el mundo. Normalmente, no tengo ni idea de dónde están las obras ni quién las creó, pero hace poco vi un mural que me pareció fascinante y pude averiguar su origen y sus artistas. Al principio, no entendía lo que parecía un simple código en la parte inferior de la imagen (es lo que suelo encontrar ahí y no me lleva a ninguna parte). Es decir, ¿qué podría ser RAM Klit? (aunque tenía mis ideas de niño).
Resulta que RAM es el seudónimo que el artista urbano portugués Miguel Caeiro usa desde 1997. Y Klit es Freddy Klit, otro artista urbano portugués. Suelen colaborar y son miembros de Thunders Crew, un colectivo de artistas callejeros fundado en 2013 y con sede en Lisboa. El mural (arriba) se llama Flor de Iris y fue pintado en la Rua de Campolide, Lisboa, en 2012. Pero no busquen este mural en Portugal; ya no existe. Creo que el edificio desapareció. Inspiradas por los salvapantallas, las imágenes de hoy son las que me parecieron artísticas en mis recientes paseos.
Hoy es el día de Elena (la sustituta de verano de Merchi; la adoramos) y otra visita a La Bandera para tomar un café y un segundo desayuno. Acabamos de regresar y San Geraldo salió corriendo de inmediato para ir al supermercado antes de que el calor se vuelva insoportable. Ya lo es, pero aún le queda mucho por subir en las próximas horas. Me golpea en la cara cuando salgo por la tarde y la temperatura supera los 42 °C/107 °F. Ayuda que a las 8 de la mañana solo hiciera 20 °C/68 °F. Ojalá tuviéramos a RAM Klit por la ciudad para refrescarnos un poco.
