I took a taxi ride with San Geraldo to Leroy Merlin (similar to Home Depot in the States or B&Q in the UK). It’s in a semi-rural area about 15 minutes west of the city. San Geraldo thought he would find some of the things he needs for his aquarium project. We had lunch first at McDonalds. Horrible. He then headed to Leroy Merlin while I went walking around the shopping center to see what else was there.
I first stopped at Sakito Home, a low-end (LOW-end) Chinese home goods store that smelled like an explosion in a cheap air freshener factory. I lasted a minute without gagging, and I left. Slightly further on was Jysk, a Danish chain specializing in furniture and housewares. It smelled good and I used to love to visit the shop in Fuengirola. I enjoyed myself and could have filled a few bags. Instead, I bought a comforter set and throw-pillow covers.
Then I hooked up with San Geraldo, who had only found a few things he needed, and we taxied home. In the elevator, SG realized he still had his sunglasses on, and he was holding the large plastic bucket he had purchased with both hands, so asked me to remove his glasses. He said, “Just put them in the bucket.” I said, “But there’s a hole in the bucket,” and we both started to sing.
When we entered the apartment, he complained that he’d be singing the song the rest of the day. I said, “Nah, you won’t remember the lyrics.” I sang, “With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza?” And he replied “With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry.” And that was the end of that. Tomé un taxi con San Geraldo hasta Leroy Merlin (similar a Home Depot en Estados Unidos o B&Q en el Reino Unido). Está en una zona semirrural a unos 15 minutos al oeste de la ciudad. San Geraldo pensó que encontraría algunas de las cosas que necesita para su proyecto de acuario. Primero comimos en McDonald’s. Horrible. Luego se dirigió a Leroy Merlin mientras yo daba una vuelta por el centro comercial para ver qué más había.
Primero paré en Sakito Home, una tienda china de artículos para el hogar de gama baja (de gama baja) que olía a explosión en una fábrica de ambientadores baratos. Aguanté un minuto sin vomitar y me fui. Un poco más adelante estaba Jysk, una cadena danesa especializada en muebles y artículos para el hogar. Olía bien y me encantaba visitar la tienda de Fuengirola. Lo pasé bien y podría haber llenado varias bolsas. En cambio, compré un juego de edredón y fundas para cojines. Luego me reuní con San Geraldo, que solo había encontrado algunas cosas que necesitaba, y tomamos un taxi a casa. En el ascensor, SG se dio cuenta de que aún llevaba puestas las gafas de sol y que sostenía con ambas manos el gran cubo de plástico que había comprado, así que me pidió que se las quitara. Dijo: «Solo ponlas en el cubo». Le dije: «Pero hay un agujero en el cubo», y ambos empezamos a cantar.
Cuando entramos al apartamento, se quejó de que estaría cantando la canción el resto del día. Le dije: «No, pronto no recordarás más letras». Canté: «¿Con qué lo arreglaré, querida Liza, querida Liza?». Y él respondió: «Con una piedra, querido Henry, querido Henry, querido Henry». Sí, arreglemos el agujero con una piedra.
