A CHOCOLATE HOTEL! On Main Street in Gibraltar! I was so excited when I heard about it. But it turned out to be just a shop called Hotel Chocolat. Still, although I couldn’t go to sleep in a chocolate bed, rest my weary head on a chocolate pillow, or luxuriate in a chocolate bath, I could load up a shopping bag. I’m on a ginger kick right now, so I bought every chocolate ginger combination I could find. And, since our pregnant friend Kathleen has been experiencing morning sickness and ginger has been helping a bit, I decided to load her up, too. I don’t know if dark chocolate is a good treatment for morning sickness but I don’t think Kathleen cares.

Okay, that’s the high point (so to speak) of this trip! A chocolate bath would’ve been nice, though 🙂
Funny thing….when I was at the Hershey spa one time home, I had a choclate body wrap and facial. I wanted to lick myself.
like you DON’T do that on a daily basis! :-b
anne marie:
My reaction exactly!
Mistress Maddie,
Oh, please, you always want to lick yourself. And I’ll bet you have lots of volunteers, too.
Deedles,
It’s really good chocolate, too. I’d climb a … rock… to get it!
That last photo is magnificent – the world really is a wonderful place despite what we read on the news.
Willym,
The world has its beauty. That photo was shot on the bus across an aisle and through a tinted window at 90 km an hour.
I too love chocolate and ginger. I dont know if you have this liqueur over there, but there is a delish ginger liqueur called Domaine de Canton….a lovely French ginger liqueur. OMG. excellent in many drinks or just on the rocks. I even tried it on vanilla ice cream.
We have a shop here called the Naked Choclate Cafe. One doesn’t need to be naked, but everything is chocolate like this place. I always go nuts there.
Mistress Maddie,
I’m going to check around for Domaine de Canton! I love chocolate martinis. Have you ever tried those?
Yes, that last photo is beautiful!
I bet you ‘were in heaven’ in the ‘Hotel’!
We LOVE ginger in this house.
Jim,
These ginger chocolates are so good. Yes, I was and am in heaven!
Hotel Chocolat- sign me up!! My husband actually loves chocolate more than I do but my mouth watered when looking at these pics. The last picture of the ocean is just so beautiful.
Hollihd,
I go through chocolate cravings at times… like right now. My favorite sweets!
In Lisbon we discovered a artisanal chocolate store. The cacao beans come from Sao Tomé, called Chocolataria Equador. They had big chocolate sardines and all kind of chocolates with various flavours.
Laurent,
Another reason to go to Lisbon!
Doesn’t chocolate cure EVERYTHING? In my book, it does.
I love ginger. I bet candied ginger dipped in dark chocolate would be amazing. Maybe that should be my next attempt in the kitchen. I will have to candy the ginger myself, but you can find wonderful fresh ginger and delicious local chocolate easily around here. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wilma,
Yes, try it. The Chocolate sticks in the box are dipped candied ginger. So good,
dark chocolate has hormones we women need…
anne marie:
Men, too, if you take me for an example. Well, maybe it’s not hormones, but there’s something!
Yep, that’s me.
Looks like fun
David:
I’m STILL enjoying my chocolate/ginger treats.
I love chocolate bars. I almost took a bite out of the computer screen.
Kirk:
That was the idea! I still haven’t touched that big chocolate bar… but I’ll soon have to!
I remember reading an article in JAMA chocolate beat Prozac in double blind studies for the treatment of several nervous disorders.
Urspo:
I can believe it. When I’m going through a major depression I can inhale a 2-pound box of chocolate.
