The dog days of summer are finally over. We even had a bit of rain this morning. Although there’s a 100% chance of rain this evening (I’ll believe it when I see it), total accumulation in Fuengirola is only supposed to be 5 mm /.2 inches. Heavy rain is supposed to fall an hour or so north of us, and that’s where it will do some good.

We were at Mesón Salvador for second breakfast and to see Lulu (who’s back in town). Isabel just left. The house is spotless. The cats are awaiting Treats Round Three. Dudo is on a 1-1/4 hour schedule. I make them wait 2-3/4 hours. He gives up complaining after 2-1/2 hours. Then Moose starts. Speaking of complainers, San Geraldo complained that I told him he didn’t need a jacket. It’s 22˚C (72˚F). He was chilled to the bone.

We went to IKEA yesterday afternoon — to buy a new set of sheets and a plate and some bowls to replace the recently broken ones. We came home with two sets of sheets, two sets of bath towels, a spatter guard for the fry pan, two new trash/recycle bins for the kitchen, and two new sets of dishes. I’ll share photos soon. I have to wash the towels and sheets plus the other laundry that’s waiting to be done. Meanwhile, here are photos of some of the dogs of summer, and others.

  1. We need a few things from Ikea as well……I will make a list and stick to it!! lol
    LOVE the shadow pics!

I’m an organizer fanatic and if it weren’t for SG I’d be loading up with every organizer IKEA has. And then I’d have no place in the house for all the organizers.

When we lived in Santa Barbara, the closest IKEA was in Burbank, 115 miles away. I went twice.

It truly is beautiful. If you can get a chance, I recommend a visit. The airport is adorable, too.

  2. The shadow photos are fascinating and darkly mysterious. So mysterious looking that I’m waiting for the photo where the shadow stops, looks up at you taking photos, while the person it’s attached to continues to move on. The shadow smiles, then hurries on to catch up with its person.

    1. Shirley:
I’ve thought of mixing and matching the shadows and the people. I wish I could make them real.

  3. I despise IKEA – I always refer to it as “the Seventh Gate of Hell”. However, rather than gargantuan out-of-town aircraft-hangars they recently “dipped their toe” in the high street with smaller outlets, and it might well be their game plan for the future. No more “how many more labyrinthine pathways through stuff I don’t want do I have to go before I find the picture frames?” That would be good – especially since the likes of Wilko (a similar British homeware outlet) has gone under, and so the options for “impulse buying” have been severely reduced by its departure. Jx

PS Love the “shadow dogs”, by the way!

    1. Jon:
I now know (usually) the shortcuts so we can skip the parts of the maze of no interest. But we hadn’t been for a while and both got mixed up this time. It’s great now that you can order online. We don’t have many shops like Wilco (or the American versions) around here. So IKEA fills a void.

    1. Bob:
It never fails. SG and I did once leave empty handed. Once we stepped inside, we realized we just weren’t in the mood.
