I have a free day today which I plan to spend mostly in bed, but I thought I’d share a little since I have the time. I am so tired. It’s currently snowing here in downtown Brooklyn, but rain keeps mixing in. We aren’t getting much of the storm fortunately and it’s supposed to clear up somewhat in a couple of hours (which keeps moving forward a couple more hours). We met our wonderful cousins at the Brooklyn Museum yesterday. We met at noon and they agreed to have lunch immediately because it was already late for The Kid Brother to have lunch. I’ll tell you about the museums and will share more of those photos another day. But we did it all and KB then said he was tired. He had led the way the entire time and really took his time through the exhibits. We headed back on the subway and he immediately told me, “I’m starving. I got nothin’ in the house to eat!” Argh! I asked, “Do you want to go to the burger place again?” Yes he did. While we ate I mentioned, given how tired I was, it was nice to have dinner early (3:45 p.m./15:45). He snapped, “Early?!? This is late for me.” I asked, “When do you usually have dinner?” He said, “1:00!” I asked, “When do you usually have lunch?” “In the morning!” “When do you have breakfast?” “In the morning! When else would I have breakfast?!?” Silly me. He must snack through the evening.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of your visit… sorry to see the eye issue?!? Ouch.
Judy C,
Eye has been slow to recover but hasn’t hurt at all. Much improved today. What a week!
Ouch. “Red eye” just in time for the “family photos”. Glad you’re getting a day off in the middle of it… Jx
Jon,
I’ve tried to forget the ugly eye and not let my vanity get the better of me. It’s improved a lot today. (It will be fine for my return home!)
Boud here, what a handsome bunch of relatives! So photogenic. Museums are usually closed Monday, so you’ll need other plans tomorrow. The weather is not going to work for strolling.
Boud,
That is one beautiful family inside and out. My favorite people. Some museums are open. This one showed open on Google… but we checked in more detail and it was not! KB and I are going today. I strolled in the rain and wind… until it got too bad.
I remember one time getting a non-viral bacterial pink eye waking up one morning and one of my eyes look zombified
It was not fun LOL
Adam,
I’m grateful I’ve never had pink eye. This is just burst blood vessels. Happens to me every so often and we don’t know why. But it always resolves itself within a week.
Sounds like it’s been a whirlwind so far. You do look tired. Glad you’re having a quiet day of rest today!
Debra,
I’ve been sleeping a bit better but still tired and looking it. Having a good time though.
Does your eye hurt? KB has interesting meal times, but hey, whatever works for him. I just had a combo lunch/supper at 3 p.m. I’m glad you’re taking it easy today. The cousins are lovely.
Love,
Janie
Janiejunebug,
Eye doesn’t hurt at all. Just looks like crap. But getting better. The cousins ARE lovely. They make me so happy.
Welcome back to the U.S.! Looks like a fun time. I get those blood explosions in my eyes as well. They don’t usually hurt and resolve on their own in a few days.
tobyo,
My explosions usually resolve within a week. This one is taking a bit longer but is looking much better today. I’m having a very pleasant and exhausting time!
The early bird special has never caught on in Spain. My parents got the point where the main meal of the day was at 11:00 AM, and snack in the evening. The train was on time, the hotel is comfy, looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
David,
I’ll have to tell our friends about the army bird special. They’ll find it funny.
Fun times with family. Enjoy your rest.
Jim,
Didn’t get rest as planned that day but I did two days later and had a 2-hour nap which helped a lot. I’m just about adjusted to the time zone in time for my return to Spain!
See you in three days!!!!!!
Sassybear,
You are everything and more than I expected. I wish we were neighbors!
I lovelovelove the Kid brother’s logic!
Sounds like quite the trip, but glad you’re taking some time to rest and recuperate! And give that eye a minute!
Bob,
Eye is finally not so hideous… after I’ve seen just about everyone. It has been quite the trip.
Sounds like you deserve some time in bed!
Kirk,
I might sleep for a week when I get home Sunday.
I noticed your eye in the family photo and then you posted the photo of your eye. I hope as I write this that it is better now! Enjoy your stay in New York. I will be flying over NY on the 13th on my way to Boston. I will wave from the plane.
Mcpersonalspace54,
Maybe we’ll pass each other in the sky!
Oh, your poor eye! And I bet you ARE tired!
KB has an interesting take on an eating schedule. We sometimes speak of “second breakfast” around here- especially two of my rapidly growing grandsons- but dinner at 1:00?!
You absolutely have very fine-looking relatives and you fit right in, even with your red eye.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon,
KB has interesting takes on a lot of things! We have second breaksfaat at least once a week at Meson Salvador. That family is as beautiful inside as out. I adore them.
Yikes! I’m glad that eye isn’t painful! It’s nice you haven’t been too messed up by the weather and hope it continues to hold for you. Rest up so you can enjoy the remainder of your stay! (I like KB’s thinking on mealtimes)
Kelly,
Another storm coming but t looks like it shouldn’t affect my departure Saturday.
I had that same thing happen in one of my eyes when I went to Paris years ago. Maybe it’s something about flying? Pressure changes? In any event, glad you’re spending time with family and hopefully you can catch up on your rest. 🙂
Steve,
Mine happens every so often. Sometimes during trips. “Pressure” would certainly explain it this time!
I’m glad you’re enjoying your visit with KB and all your relatives in NYC, yet it’s good to get some rest and/or alone-time to recharge even on holiday! Sounds like your brother is very much an early bird and not a night owl. Looking forward to seeing all the photos and recounts of your adventures when you get home to Malaga!
Tundra Bunny,
The eye thing happens to me two or three times a year. No idea why. It’s much improved finally today. This has been a slow one. KB has an interesting schedule. I phoned him at 8:30 the other day. Woke him up. He answered with a really angry, “What do YOU want?!?” Charming.
Goodness…. my eye looks like that after shots…. Needles in my eye not good ! Children’s rhyme… poke a needle in your eye
I am slowly catching up with blogs… reading is very hard and I get tired. Just found out your in NY ! ! !
I hope you and family are doing OK
cheers from the gud dugs and me
Parsnip,
So nice to hear from you. My eye explosion doesn’t compare to those needles in your eye!
White letters on light beige is VERY hard for me to read! Glad you are having a good visit though!
Anon:
I don’t know why you’re seeing white letters on light beige. My blog is black letters on light beige.
Too bad about the eye; I am glad you and your brother got to see each other
Urspo:
The eye is now finally fine, now that I’m home! Great times with my brother.
