Home again, home again, jiggety-jig / De nuevo a casa, de nuevo a casa

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés

When I was told I was being admitted to hospital last Wednesday, my first question was “Just for overnight, right?” San Geraldo smiled and rolled his eyes. It turned into more than a week’s stay but I’m home! To be honest, it wasn’t a bad stay — as far as hospitals go. But I sure am happy to be home with the cats and San Geraldo the Great (whom I think has had it worse than I have — well, except for the catheter).

The doctors still don’t know how the infection started, but they haven’t stopped intently researching. More antibody tests are currently being done. At this point, all the symptoms are either gone completely or under control. My heart is good. Yes, it’s actually good. My kidney function has improved even more (and it wasn’t too bad to begin with). I’m still on antibiotics. And I’m feeling surprisingly well. I went for walks up and down some hills yesterday and today.

The cats are happy — primarily because I gave them treats the minute I got home. Well, it wasn’t actually the very minute. All 10 of their plates were in the sink. I told San Geraldo I was not washing dishes the minute I walked in the door. So we three waited while he washed two.

This morning’s sunrise was a great way to wake up. More tests to be done in a week or so and then another appointment. But things are sure much better than they were several days ago. And now it’s time for a siesta. The photos are all from yesterday.

Y me siento sorprendentemente bien. Ayer y hoy salí a caminar subiendo y bajando algunas colinas.

  1. All things considered, you’re looking very well on it! “Fit as a flea”, as my Nan would have it.

Typical bloke, having to hurriedly do all the washing-up he didn’t do while you were laid up – although usually that’s before you walk through the door, not after 😂 Jx

    1. Jon:
San Geraldo did all the washing up once while I was gone. After that, whenever he ran out of dishes for the cats, he washed the two he needed. But he DID do laundry.

    1. Jssw:
Wish I had included the horizontal striped socks in that shot! I even walked down the street to the pharmacy in that outfit.

  2. And just think now that you’re home and more comfortable being there he’ll probably even mend and move forward even quicker. Plus cats and dogs always help. Although you look like you’re standing a little crooked in that last picture. Maybe some effects from the catheter still,😂😂😂😂😂Just kidding!!!!!

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Not crooked in the picture… Bent! Anyway, it’s not the catheter, it’s all that excess fluid!

  3. So happy to hear you are home and, I might add, looking good. The care you have been getting there sounds exceptional. Strangely you are the second person I know that has experienced, what I assume is sepsis in the past two weeks. I just glad you sought treatment early – it can have dire results. I’m sure SG and the pusses are happy to have you back where you belong. Big hugs and healing thoughts.

    1. Willym:
I should really have gone to urgent care more than 6 weeks earlier. Lucky to have caught things. The care was amazing.

    1. p.s. Those “to market” ditties (for a pig AND for a hog) will be in my head the rest of the day. Thanks. 🙄

  4. Oh, glad to know that you’re on the mend! My dad used to say that quotation when he’d pull into the driveway…”Home again, home again, jiggety-jig!”

  5. Looking healthier than ever. After what Mistress commented, I had to go back and look at your stance and 😂😂😂😂 but not as crooked as the eye and nose of the female in the fascinating artwork which is your header.

  6. Looking good! Well, except for your dubious fashion choices. 🙂

I know you’re happy to be home and back with SG and the kids. Loving that blue sky!

  7. Dr boud here, to say you’re looking just fine, and sounding it, too. A week in the hospital is a long time. The cats probably thought you’d moved away!

    1. Boud:
Dudo gave me attitude at first. Now he can’t get enough of me. Moose took maybe a half hour. So happy to be home. That was a long and unexpected stay.

  8. Glad that you’re almost past this. Your health scare was a little too suspenseful for me, though I imagine it was even more so for you.

    1. Kirk:
Thanks so much. I must admit, we were both scared (expecting the worst) at times.

  9. SO GLAD TO HEAR THIS! Plaid and stripes, I should revisit my packing before we leave home. See you soon,

    1. David:
SG has plaid flannels if you need them. You can tell how bad things were for me. I actually walked around in public in that outfit. Even went into a pharmacy like that. With horizontal striped socks!

  10. Hooray, you’re home! Reading about your mystery infection, I thought of my son-in-law who had shoulder surgery in January. Almost a month later he developed what the doctors attributed to a slow growing infection from that. He was hospitalized and on antibiotics 24/7 there and also after going home with a PICC line in his arm for a week. Scary stuff for sure. Glad you’re doing well!

    1. TexasTrailerParkTrash:
Wow. It IS scary. So glad they caught your son-in-law’s infe3ction.

  11. It’s nice to see your smiling, photogenic face outside again, even in mismatched prints! I can just picture you, Moose and Dudo sinking into the couch with loud “Ahhhhhhhhs” of relief while poor SG washed dishes…

    1. Tundra Bunny:
Do you believe that outfit?!? You should have seen the socks with the horizontal stripes. The shirt was what I arrived in. The pants were the only comfortable ones I had for the situation. I even walked into the pharmacy down the hill looking like that. Oh, SG never washed those dishes. I did!

  12. So glad to see you back home. Hope they figure out what caused it. Are stripes and plaid a symptom.

      1. Anon:
I don’t know why you’re Anon. But you’re STILL Anon! That’s the first time I’ve ever gone out in public dressed like that… and I didn’t even care. So, yes, it’s clearly a symptom.

  13. Golly. All these comments – yet, despite ticking all the right boxes in the subscription settings, I haven’t received a single notification! Just as Blogger fixed their similar problem recently… Jx

    1. Jon:
One would think it would be easier than this. I have one blog I’d signed up to follow repeatedly. Sixth time was the charm. I haven’t recently been dropped from any.

    1. Sassybear:
Still waiting for the proper and full recovery but home is a great place to be.
