A quick hello to you today. We went to Casa Colón for lunch and it was cold. OK, everything’s relative. But 16˚C/61˚F sure felt cold to us. I wore a quilted jacket and an old sweater. One my mother knitted for my father in 1949. I was given the sweater in the 1960s and wore it for years after. But I did eventually outgrow it; my father was 5’8″ to my 6’2″ (until she was in her 80s, my mother always said he was 5’10”; then she admitted to me she had lied).
Spanish style can be super tight, so I’m getting more use out of it now. Below, you can see me before lunch wearing the sweater and then my mother knitting it on the beach in Coney Island in 1949. When I took off my jacket at Casa Colón, Berna (one of the server/bartenders) immediately commented on how cool and beautiful my sweater was. It made me feel great. Sometimes quality really does last. By the way, the temperature is supposed to go down to 2˚C or 3˚C (between 35F and 37F) overnight! Yes, San Geraldo is wearing his long underwear.
Un rápido saludo para ti hoy. Fuimos a Casa Colón a almorzar y hacía frío. Vale, todo es relativo. Pero 16˚C/61˚F seguro que nos hizo frío. Yo llevaba una chaqueta acolchada y un suéter viejo. Uno que mi madre tejió para mi padre en 1949. Me regalaron el suéter en los años 60 y lo usé durante años después. Pero al final me quedó chico; Mi padre medía 1,72 m y yo 1,88 m (hasta que ella tenía 80 años, mi madre siempre decía que él medía 1,78 m; luego me admitió que había mentido).
El estilo español puede ser muy ajustado, así que ahora le estoy sacando más partido.
