Grizzled old troll / Viejo troll canoso

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

Nine-year-old Olav told me to tell you he’s a very talented photo editor when he sent me the following two photos and told me to share them on my blog. He made me look like a grizzled, old Norwegian troll, and we all know I look more like a pixie (ok, ok, a grizzled, old pixie).

Olav explained to me that Sweden is known for candy and Denmark is known for Legos. He continued, sadly, that Norway is known for trolls. Here are some other trolls and nisser (household spirits) I’ve run into.

.

And then there’s Olav.

Y luego está Olav.

  1. A very promising future as an editor, can he make me look young and beautiful again? Oh, an editor not a miracle worker.

    1. David:
If you’re looking for young and beautiful, I wouldn’t trust the little stinker.

  2. Those figurines creep me out!!! Scary looking. I couldn’t have them in my house.

But the last picture he did of himself is cool as hell looking.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
I’m not a fan of the trolls, but I do like the nisser. Yeah, smart kid, does a great job on himself!

    1. Jim:
He’s a very clever boy, but I don’t think I’ll be asking him to do my portrait.

  3. I have three Nisse who come out at Christmas time. Their names are Bjork, Sven, and Irving.
I still have my troll carved from wood my grandparents brought back from a trip to Norway.

    1. Urspo:
We have a collection of julenisser. We didn’t buy any for ourselves this time.

  4. And here I thought we were going to get a picture of Grumpy Bear in his pajamas. Sigh, mores the pity. Trolls have always given me the heebie jeebies, even the so-called cute ones from my childhood. Shudder. I don’t quite know what a pixie is but I’m picturing you in a Tinkerbell outfit. Nice!

  5. You do look rather troll-like, particularly in that second one. Olav, on the other hand, looks like a composer of hip, moody electronic music on the cover of his first album.

    1. Steve:
I love Olav’s self-portrait. When I told him I looked like a troll, he told me that’s what I would look like from now on. I don’t know if he meant in general or in his portraits of me.

  6. Olav’s self-portrait is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in along time! And he’s only 9?! Wow!
