That’s me in the spotlight / Ese soy yo bajo los focos

I love the city of Málaga. So nice to have it nearby for the hustle and bustle, the architecture, the history, the people, the food, the museums, and so much more. We regularly wonder if we would like living there. But, for one thing, it’s a lot more expensive than Fuengirola. No apartment on the beach for us there. And the hustle and bustle we often enjoy is also the hustle and bustle we love to escape. So, as far as cities go, Fuengirola suits us fine. At least for the foreseeable future.

In February, we will have lived here in this same apartment for 10 years. By far, the longest we’ve ever lived in any one place. Hard to believe that this past July was our 11th anniversary making our home in Spain. I missed mentioning another anniversary. In August we were in Bergen, Norway, for our 44th anniversary. [Note: San Geraldo pointed out to me that it’s only been 41 years. I don’t know what I was thinking. Maybe it just feels like forever.] It wasn’t much of a celebration since I wasn’t feeling well and had yet to test positive for Covid, while San Geraldo had spent most of the previous two weeks feeling miserable with Covid. But we celebrate something every day of our lives together. Even if it’s just an extra hug in the kitchen and talking over a cup of coffee.

Take another walk with me. This time in the city of Málaga. The top photo? That’s me in the spotlight (waiting for the train home). I didn’t set it up.

No la he cagado.

I always enjoy the reflections when I wait at that station. I didn’t plan that. Just naturally stood in the spotlight.

  1. I love Malaga – we’ve cheerfully got ourselves “lost” wandering its narrow streets on many an occasion! That pic at the station is simply inspired… Jx

PS congratulations on your – gulp – 44th anniversary! Your relationship’s as old as James Corden, Volodymyr Zelensky, Ashton Kutcher, Nicole Scherzinger, James Franco, Perez Hilton, and – erm – Garfield the Cat.

    1. Jon:
I screwed up. SG, who never gets it right, pointed out that it’s only been 41 years. The last three months have felt like 3 years!

      1. So, only as old as Justin Timberlake, Natalie Portman, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Beth Ditto, Alicia Keys, Elijah Wood, Zara Phillips, Craig David, Meghan Markle, and Paris Hilton, then?

      2. Jon:
Ah, thanks for doing the research. Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston are always who I think of when I talk of anniversaries.

  2. The second I saw this post I broke out singing just like your last post with a song heading. Perfect song and group to sing with today.

  3. You look like a Marvel superhero on a day off, LOL! Now if the other travellers could just be edited out of the photo….

  4. Looks to be a lovely city! Maybe the perfect ‘suburb’ nearby is waiting for you both…….but no beach! I hear you.

    1. Jim:
Our city is to Málaga is like Brooklyn is to Manhattan. (Although Brooklyn has a population of 2.5 million and Fuengirola has 85,000.)

      1. Meant to say how much I like that photo of you waiting for bus…….great shot whether planned or not.

  5. Malaga…what a simply dazzling town!!!! I just love the old and new architecture together. I would have to go there if I ever visited. And that’s you in the spotlight, the tall guy, in the morror like thingy?!?!? Damn boy you got some fine legs, very fine legs!!!!!!

I’m a leg man. All three of them!!!!!!!!!!!! Opps, is this thing still on?

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Yep, that’s me in the spotlight. Thanks. You do bring out the best(?) in me.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
Between August and November it went from 41 to 44. A very long three months.
