Shadows, sneezes, saws / Sombras, estornudos, sierra mecánica

I think I have a cold. I’ve been calling it allergies for two days, but overnight I began to think it was a cold. I’m sure I have a pill for this somewhere.

We have found, we think, new furniture for the terrace and we’re very excited. Two chairs, a two-seater and a low table. The seating has overstuffed cushions which will ensure the cats will spend a lot of time out there. I placed Dudo’s pet rug on the terrace yesterday to entice him, and I have proof he was there. He threw up on it. Or maybe it was Moose.

The spring sun has moved around a bit so we get more sunlight on the terrace (and bedroom) late in the day. It makes for interesting shadows. The interior shadow photos below were taken during winter in the bedroom. Those lights are now blocked by the leafed out trees so nighttime shadows are no longer as dramatic. Following those photos are people shadows. I have an entirely new vantage point!

There are three apartments on our floor. One was just sold and has been under renovation for several weeks. Everything is being torn out. One wall of my office abuts the hallway. I’m currently being serenaded (again) by the roar of a power saw. Given the amount of work being done, I have a feeling I’ll be listening to this for another month or more. At least I like the new neighbors, who may one day be able to move in. Time for a hot shower and another pill of some sort.

  1. Those shadows–wow! A photographer’s dream, I’m thinking. What beautiful and interesting homes you and SG share. 🙂

    1. Jennifer:
We’ve been very fortunate in the places we’ve lived and the homes we’ve had.

  2. I love the shadows moving with the season, and your observations. You’re going to love the terrace now that it’s glassed in, in all seasons.

  3. We have a nice sized piece of property but when Winter takes the leaves away you can see some of the houses around us. Then Spring arrives, it brings the leaves, and now the backyard seems very secluded.

I like the shadow people and Dudo, or Moose, marking their new territory!

    1. Bob:
We had the same situation in Connecticut. In spring and summer, we were on our own. In winter, we could see the neighbors. I hated that. I washed Dudo’s rug yesterday and it made it through the night unharmed!

  4. Do you think cats can puke on demand? Probably just seems that way.
I’m sorry you have a cold. I think chicken soup is in order. With limes. Or lemon.
    Shadows are mesmerizing, aren’t they?

    1. Ms. Moon:
Yeah, it sure does seem like the cats puke on demand… and leave skid marks on the carpets, too! It looks like yesterday may have been the worst of my cold (touch wood). SG appears to be where I was yesterday.

  5. You love your shadows!!!!! You’re going to love being on the terrace soon all the time I bet. And reno noise…you can’t seem to escape that in places you live can you?! LOL

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Our building in Fuengirola was built in either 1963 or 1973 and it wasn’t built well. If someone dropped a coin in one apartment, you heard it four floors away. This building goes back to 1982, so many original owners are gone and the new ones want new apartments. Not nearly as bad as our old place, but it can make my head pound.

  6. Those shadow photos are – as always – faboo.

The “Green Men” are in place! Home is complete… Jx

  7. Love the shadows!
that must be a relief for you both to have this done.
Zinc lozenges work sometimes for us with a cold and of course the ole reliable oregano oil. Good luck.

    1. Jim:
Not only are we happy it’s done but we’re thrilled with the quality. Better than we imagined.

    1. Kelly:
I saw the cat mess and rolled my eyes. Did I mention the skid mark in the living room?

    1. Steve:
They’re not, but they also are nothing like your Russians. Very nice couple. And they’re doing the entire apartment at once. I saw them today and they said they might even be completely finished in less than 2 weeks. No more walls to come down. Floors are in. Finish work is being done. We don’t have Russians nor a Mrs. Kravitz on our floor.
