Trained in 2 days / Entrenado en 2 días

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

Today is the 14th birthday of Dudo and Moose. They are stand-offish, affectionate, stubborn, cooperative, good eaters, picky eaters, clean, messy, trusting, suspicious, gentle, snippy, intelligent, slow-witted, calm, neurotic, inconsistent creatures of habit. I suppose I just described cats in general.

Dudo and Moose moved in with us when they were 10 months old, after we had lived in Seville ten months. They were born on the street and lived in a small cage in a shelter until I found a video clip of them online and fell in love. The photo above has me down on the floor to get a shot of the boys on their first day with us.

To paraphrase Bill Dana (American comedian, actor, and screenwriter): We were told the training procedure with cats was difficult. It’s not. Ours had us trained in two days.

  1. Happy, happy birthday to Dudo and Moose!🎉🎉🎉❤️ You and SG have given them such a wonderful life.

  2. MANY happy returns to you both, D & M, you heart-stealers, you. What an easy life you must have, just being the gifted entertainers that you naturally are. Wishing you both a whole lotta future birthdays – we know you’ll keep us smiling.

    1. David,
It’s satisfying to know the difference we made and they’ve made a difference for us, too.

    1. Jon,
Our cats in the States were so different from these two who are so different from each other. Still, they’re all cats.

  3. It’s like they always knew they’d be living in swell digs with you and SG. I imagine the moment they stepped into your home they asked you, “What took you so long?”
May they continue to live healthy and happy lives for a very long time.

  4. Happy Birthday to the boys!!
    Happy you found each other!
In spite of/because of the nature of cats, I miss having one.

    1. Kelly,
I gave them both birthday kisses. Moose was fine. Dudo thought I had lost my mind.

  5. A little off topic but my old dog Zelda I never had to train her to potty right. She had one accident in the house, due to a medical problem as an adult

    1. Debra,
We’ve both been written up a couple of times. But who will they find to work for this money?

  6. Happy Birthday to Moose & Dudo! We know you’re the real kings of the castle in which you live!

And Scoot, it was very good of you & SG to adopt a bonded pair — not many people do. I also emailed you a fun clip of NYC this weekend, so check your spam box…

    1. Tundra Bunny:
They had been in the shelter together for 10 months. We couldn’t imagine separating them. We did the same with two brothers we adopted in San Diego. They were 4 months old and in the same cage.

  7. Happy Birthday to the ones in charge! They ” fell on their feet”when you adopted them. I had cats for many years and they were all so different in personality….not just cats!

    1. Judy C:
I’m sure they’d love you, too. Moose is right now yowling in the kitchen because he thinks we’re late on a round of treats.

    1. larrymuffin:
So, Teeter already has you both trained? They are so manipulative.
