Shadow, song, sketch / Sombra, canción, dibujo

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

I walked over to the post office earlier today before the temperature got too high. I thought I would finally change our address from Fuengirola to here only to learn that homie don’t do that. I was told the post office does not forward mail from one address to another when you move. So, that was easy. Now I just have to make sure to continue getting our address change to entities that matter. When I left the post office I stopped to listen to the young woman I had heard sing before I went in. She put a spell on me. You’ll understand if you watch the video (pump up the volume). I then stopped at the art supply store and bought myself the four pencils I like to use together when I sketch. Then I met San Geraldo for lunch at La Popina. He had been out getting a haircut and picking up a package. Our timing couldn’t have been better. Today’s photos are shadowy shots from yesterdays walk in the parks.

Me hechizó.

  1. That lady can sing! Were you the only audience?
The post office won’t do changes of addresses? Well. Okay then.
    Nice shadow shots.

It was really already too hot to hang around. Few people malingering. There were several sitting on benches on the opposite side of the street in some shade. The guy at the PO was a pleasure and apologetic. It’s thought the change is our personal responsibility. A surprise but I get it. Besides, my changes of address in the States rarely worked the first time around. I usually had to submit it at least a second time. I submitted my mother’s three times before it took and still there was mail that slipped through. I might head out and focus on only shadows… when the heat doesn’t knock me out. You know, “like a post menopausal woman on drugs that make a person sweat.”

  2. She’s a belter, alright!

What kind of post office doesn’t have a post redirect service??!! We’ve moved loads, and (for a fee) our post is redirected every time.

    Fab photos, as ever. Jx

I was surprised but it’s part of the attitude that we’re responsible for ourselves, I suppose. Besides, my changes of address in the States were rarely successful the first time. THAT was annoying. Fortunately, we get little mail and I now just have two entities in the States that I need to call today (and they’ll probably require a notary and a blood sample). If it hadn’t been so hot and I hadn’t had places to go and people to see, I would have sat and enjoyed her music.

The best pencil combination for me! I remember you sharing those along with one of your drawings and I felt like I was in good company. I could only find two of my old pencils in my things and they were a bit shorter than I like. Well-used and well-loved. She was singing something else when I went in and when I left. I could have stayed a long time, but it was a busy day… and it was already HOT.

  3. That was what I call “sangin'”!
I feel lazy when you say you went out walking in the heat but our heat is keeping me in the house these days … feels like temps of 110-degrees and all that humidity. Oy, I can’t.

    1. Bob:
Our heat is keeping me in the house more than I like, too. I try to get out for a bit, but I’m realizing it’s not good to push it. Valeria Delgado has a fan in me!

  4. Great street entertainment. People just striding by! Makes a nice change when you and sg meet up neatly. We tend to hear about the near misses.
    New pencils, huh?

    Such potential
    In a pencil.

    1. Boud:
Yes, it was a successful meet-up because I was finished quickly and got back to our breakfast cafe before SG left! That’s a beautiful way to describe a pencil. It’s so true.

    1. Jim:
I fell in love with her voice. I hope to see her more around town, but it’s getting hotter and more quiet around here.

    1. Kirk:
I know! There is so much talent around. The university here has an exceptional music school, so a lot more talent locally. Our friends’ daughter studied oboe here. She used to busk at Christmas time with a few friends. It was astounding.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Thanks! I love taking those shots. It feels like I’m creating art at the same time.

    1. Sixpence Notthewiser:
I wonder if she is or was a music student at the university here. Some amazing talent.

    1. Steve:
Yes, clearly English is not her first language. However, she did two other songs and enunciated perfectly. This one may be new to her repertoire.

  5. Pencils! I love pencils! Not just any but good quality types, no rubbish.
Tell me do you use/know these German lovelies?
