New cat travel cages arrived today. Bigger, sturdier, and with a door on top which will make it easier to grab and drop the cats. Well, at least the dropping will be easier. Dudo was fascinated as the cages were unpacked. When he saw them begin to be assembled, he wasn’t so fascinated. He’s been pouting on the cat tree in San Geraldo’s office for 45 minutes. I don’t know where Moose went. Poor boys. It doesn’t matter to them that we gave away the two older travel cages.

We have been emptying things out that we no longer need or want and it’s been going incredibly well. This week has been Feria del Rosario here in Fuengirola, the annual fair in honor of the Virgin of Rosario. We’ve been too busy. It ends today, so it looks like it will be a miss for me this year. Click here for a bit of fun from last year.

Yesterday’s sunrise was so spectacular that San Geraldo woke me up to see it. A lot of people are seeing the Northern Lights. We’re seeing the southern ones. After yesterday’s show, today’s, although impressive was not worth rising for.

Hoy llegaron nuevas transportines paragatos.

• Dudo wondered what I was doing out of bed so early. “Is it time for treats?”
• The plastic bag was covering an old computer. Dudo found a better use for it.
• What remains on the terrace to be taken to Córdoba.
• Still to be tossed. A couple of things to be left behind.
• Aún por desechar. Un par de cosas que dejar atrás.
• The front hall when there were still aloe. Moose now likes to yowl and listen to the echo.

  1. All this sounding very familiar……..toss this, keep that…..You guys will feel so much ‘lighter’.

  2. Are you going to be taking the cats on the train when you do your final move to Cordoba? Or do you have another means of travel that day? Imagine carrying those cages and your other stuff might be a bit of a hassle on the train…but maybe not? Best of luck wrapping up things these next two weeks and with some (fingers crossed) cooperation from Dudo and Moose.
Heading back to ABQ on Wednesday for another two week cover for the ILs.
Got quite a view of the aurora borealis on Thursday night here in MD. Standing on my back deck, I got some great photos with my phone. iP14Pro has a pretty good camera.

    1. Mary:
We’re renting a car for the trip. Can’t imagine hauling them on the train. You sure had some spectacular views. Thanks for sharing them!

  3. That is the most glorious sunrise!! All that and Stritchy, too! Love it. Jx

PS I am not surprised that cats are yowling. They know what’s afoot…

  4. I’ll miss your sunrises and sunsets over the sea, but look forward to your new views. Poor kitties, they just don’t understand what’s going on.

  5. You know… you see photos of sunrises like that, and you’re impressed… but, I can’t IMAGINE what it must have been like to see in person!
Nice carriers 🙂 You two still have a car, right? That’s how the final move will be done?

    1. Judy C:
I can’t count the number of times one of us has rolled over in the morning and said, “Oh, my god. Look at the sunrise!” Bad timing. We sold the car in the spring. But we’ll just rent one for the drive to Córdoba with the cats.

    1. JSSW:
Olivia hangs on the wall in the salon! You don’t remember her greeting everyone? She’ll have pride of place in the new apartment. Probably in the “follé.”

  6. Those cats are pretty smart to know a partially assembled cat-carrier when they see one!

Reading this makes me a bit jealous of your fresh start. I’d love to clean things out and move to a new place.

    1. Steve:
Yes, the cats are no dummies. You’ve been in your place even longer than we’ve been in ours. I do love moving. And I especially love the opportunity to clean things out. So satisfying.

  7. Dudo’s face always makes me smile.
I like the idea of a drop top carrier, though I wonder if lowering the cats inside is better … I see four legs splayed out in all directions.

Gorgeous sunrise … I’d have gotten up early to see that, too!

    1. Bob:
You roll the cats a bit with their legs up in the air and drop then in not giving them a chance to splay. If you can grab them in the first place, it IS easier.

    1. Debra:
We have three cat trees. The one on the terrace is shot, so we’ll take it down to the curb for trash pick-up … and someone will drive by and pick it up before the City gets here. The living room cat tree will come with us. The one is SG’s office may be beyond hope (to us), as well.

  8. When I was a child, had a necklace with a globe-shaped charm on it. Metal on one side, glass on the other, and behind the glass was the most amazing sunset (or was it sunrise?) made from butterfly wings. That is what your pictures look like today. Only they look better.
I do wonder what happened to that necklace.
Can’t believe how fast you guys are getting this move done. I am so impressed.
And I’m ashamed to admit I know little, if anything about Elaine Stritch. I now know that she sure could perform a song.
    Ms. Moon

    1. Ms. Moonsigh:
Elaine Stritch has a one-woman show available on YouTube. Worth a watch. She tells the story of her life AND she sings. I was talking to our current landlady the other day. She told me she figured we’d be here until the end of December and was amazed at how quickly we did this. I told her we’re old pros with nearly 20 moves under our belts together. We don’t waste any time. That necklace sounds so unusual. I wonder if it’s stashed with a bunch of other things somewhere. Wouldn’t that be a nice surprise?

      1. They sold all kinds of butterfly wing jewelry when I was a child. Florida was souvenir central, you know. Shell jewelry was also good. And oh- the orange blossom perfume. It was sort of wretched but I’d love to smell some again.

  9. Kitty trancs, talk to the vet, no reason for them to be stressed when they can be mellowed out.

    1. David:
Kitty trancs make us nervous and our vets have always been against them, although I know many people use them. I also don’t like how long it takes them to recover. We once gave Benadryl to a very stressed out cat. He foamed pink at the mouth when we gave it to him, but it did help during our drive from San Francisco to Palm Springs. I think we’ll stick with the pheromone spray.

  10. “ Yesterday’s sunrise was so spectacular that San Geraldo woke me up to see it. ”

A comment as lovely as it was heartbreaking

    1. finlaygray:
Yes, there’s something beautiful and overwhelming about being awakened to see a sunrise.
