My appointment with the nephrologist went fine Tuesday. No surprise. My medication dosage has been increased slightly again, but all is well. And I PROMISE I will not go online to check my lab results before I see the doctor. I’ll be back to Málaga for my November appointment, but she gave me the name of a nephrologist in Córdoba and I hope to connect quickly.
Santi and Yoshua (click here) picked up the rest of the flower pots from the terrace, a storage cabinet, and the two large aloe vera planters. I expected to hear screaming but neither of them got stabbed. The aloe vera always attacks me. Fortunately, it has its own built-in treatment plan. The guys also took any junk that needed to be tossed. We are so grateful to them. It looks like we’re moving.
I’m waiting to hear from the mover today to see if we can get a firm date. It’s complicated by the 7th-floor delivery in Córdoba, the moving elevator, and the permit. We had been told by the rep that he was aiming for the week of 21 of October and we hope that’s still the case.
We had a very pleasant visit with friends Pauline and Reg at Mesón Salvador. They used to often meet there to start their day so we would see them regularly. We will now sometimes bump into them when they’re having a drink at a sidewalk cafe nearby, but we haven’t sat and visited in ages. It was great to just chat for a while.
I now have to find a home for our sofa/divan. It’s fake leather and hasn’t aged well in its sunny spot. It’s also much bigger and heavier than we like, and we want to replace it with two 2-seater sofas. I had hoped Yoshua would want it for his new apartment but he already has a new sofa.
I’ve shared terrace views from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The title of this post is from an old-time comic strip and cartoon that included the character Barney Google with the goo goo googly eyes. I’ve shared two songs below. The first is the Barney Google song and the second is the theme from the cartoon show, Snuffy Smith, which I had to sing to The Kid Brother constantly when we traveled as children. He still makes me sing.
I JUST RECEIVED A MESSAGE from the mover. Packing and loading will take place here the 23rd and 24th of October. Unloading in Córdoba will occur Friday the 25th. NOW it feels real.
He compartido dos canciones a continuación. La primera es la canción de Barney Google y la segunda es el tema del programa de dibujos animados, Snuffy Smith, que tuve que cantarle constantemente a El Hermanito cuando viajábamos de niños. Todavía me hace cantar.
ACBO DE RECIBIR UN MENSAJE de la empresa de mudanzas. El embalaje y la carga se realizarán aquí el 23 y 24 de octubre. La descarga en Córdoba se realizará el viernes 25. AHORA parece real.

By the looks of the hallway/terrace…..yes, you guys are moving! Sounds like all is ready and scheduled. Good job, guys!
Jim:
That was the hallway. I’ll share photos of the terrace soon. I’m working away and SG is trying to organize all the city filings, address changes, registries, driver’s licenses… So much to do.
I’m glad there’s a date on the calendar now! I recognized Snuffy Smith right off, but had totally forgotten about Barney Google.
Kelly:
I must admit, I still enjoy the Snuffy Smith song.
Your terrace looks SO bare now! Glad you’ve got firm moving dates. Wishing you a smooth and stress-free move!
Debra:
That’s the hallway. And, yes vacant! Wait until you see the terrace! Those photos still to come. Maybe before and after, too.
It’s starting to get real. Echoing empty spaces!
That was moi, Boud.
Boud:
Moose was yowling for Dudo from the terrace this morning and I couldn’t believe the echo.
I do not believe I was ever aware of Barney Google although his name does sound familiar. As to Snuffy- I only read him in the comics. Never knew he had a song. He was such a reprobate.
Hurray for a firm date! (giggle) No, seriously, soon we will all be moving with Mitchell. I’m pretty excited.
I did not say a word to you about not checking your labs online. I may have thought about it but…
I wish some men in trucks would come get my aloe plants. I’m going to have to pay someone to make that happen.
Ms. Moon
Moonsigh:
My brother LOVED the show. But I think he loved the theme song more. Santi and Yoshua, and mama Marisa and daughter Nazaret are some of the kindest, most enlightened, and fun people we‘ve ever met. I don’t think Santi and Yoshua would have come for the aloes if they had to dig them out.
Oh, wow. It’s not until they’re gone that you realise what a difference those aloes made to that space.
Those Mediterranean sunsets are making my body pine for Andalusia again. Luckily, we’ve booked again for February!
So, it’s sorted! Cordoba beckons… Jx
Jon:
The hall is so lonely now. The sunrises have been spectacular every recent morning.
That terrace screams that you’re moving. Glad that it all seems to be going smoothly.
Bob^^^^
Bob:
Yeah, that’s the hallway. I’ll get shots of the empty terrace next. It echoes.
Great that the nephrologist visit was reassuring 🙂
Moving is happening! I look forward to seeing the new love seats in the new apartment.
Thanks for giving us beautiful seats views this month 🙂 We’re glued to the screen watching news reports of the devastation caused by the three dozen tornadoes spurred by Hurricane Milton, and the rest of the “usual” hurricane-caused horrors in Florida.
J Chabot:
I can’t believe the devastation from the tornadoes and hurricane. And to be watching the horizon for what’s next!
*sea views !
J Chabot:
Yeah, sorry there were no seat views this time!
I sang Barney Google with The Andrews Sisters. It’s great that the guys came to get the plants, along with some other stuff. I love purging before a move.
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug:
We downsized tremendously 13 years ago for our move to Spain. We upsized tremendously over the past 11 years in the same apartment. I, too, love purging.
The comic strip was originally called Barney Google and took place in the city, with a strong emphasis on horse racing (in particular, a horse named Sparkplug.) The strip was very popular in the 1920s, when the googly eye song was first heard (the Andrew Sisters would have been just entering grade school, so their version, 1920s references and all, must have come out much later.) By the early 1930s, the strip had slipped in popularity, so Billy DeBeck, the strip’s creator, hoping to capitalize on the hillbilly humor popular at the time, had Barney take a trip to the mountains, where he met Snuffy Smith. Snuffy eventually proved so popular that he eventually usurped Barney as the strip’s main character, which he remains today.
Kirk:
My mother remembered Barney Google well.
Great news from the good docs. And ignore those test results, you are not a number, you are a dear. So you will be in by the end of the month. How exciting.
David:
Yes, it’s so real now and this apartment really looks like we’re leaving.
You definitely are moving! It’s so strange to see your hallway looking so barren. I wonder what those guys are doing with all the plants?
I don’t think I ever knew “Snuffy Smith” was a TV show. I only remember the comic strip!
Steve:
Santi and Marisa (his wife) just bought property in the country. He’s going to plant all these specimens there. Very exciting. I got to watch Sniffy Smith with The Kid Brother. He loved it, but he especially loved (and loves) the song… and I must admit I love performing it.
Moving day is at hand!
Urspo:
The packers will begin in 10 days!
