I met with my new private nephrologist yesterday. Hallelujah. Some new and some changed dosages of meds. He’s got a friend/colleague at the private medical centre who also works for public health. He’s going to tell him to see me, which means I might have one nephrologist for both, although I seriously liked the doctor I met yesterday. Did I mention he’s hot? Oh well. And his email address is included in my paperwork (although I haven’t found it yet). When I showed my surprise, he said, “Patients with serious illnesses need to have direct access to their doctors.” As I mentioned before about my private care in Málaga, I wasn’t even allowed to leave a message.
But now I’m trying to figure out the changes to my medications throughout the day, and then I have to reorganize the pill boxes for the week. It makes my brain hurt.
San Geraldo, meanwhile, is assembling our two sofas. Normally we’d pay for assembly but they scheduled that for a month from now and we thought that was ridiculous. Everything goes smoothly except for two screws on both sofas. He used brute strength on the first and is now trying to do the same on the second. He should be finished before the month is up.
We’re waiting for the sofa covers to arrive. Today or tomorrow maybe. Then we’ll start to hang pictures. That will make a huge difference. I installed wireless under-cabinet lights in the kitchen and they’re better than expected. They can be easily set to turn on when they sense motion. So hi-tech.
Since the piano harp and sound board are under the bed, we had to remove the two large plastic tubs filled with framed photos that aren’t going on the walls. I unpacked those and was able to put them all into one storage box in my closet. Now, what to do with those large plastic tubs.
I don’t want to do any more work. I want to explore. But I can’t stop myself. There are only a few planks remaining of the piano to take down between 7 and 10 at night. Those should all be gone in the next couple of days. We can actually see the apartment. Our offices have become stashes while we make decisions. Mine makes me crazy. Still mess everywhere.
And Dudo wants another treat.
Ayer me reuní con mi nuevo nefrólogo privado. ¡Aleluya! Algunas dosis nuevas y otras modificadas.
Luego comenzaremos a colgar cuadros.
Y Dudo quiere otro aperetivo.

Boud here, very glad you’ve got a nephrologist now. It’s unnerving when you’re trying to get a specialist you immediately need.
This is an expensive move, what with one thing and ten others. But I think its always good to live in a beautiful place.
Boud:
Glad we can afford to do the things we want for the apartment. Much isn’t necessary, but it makes it feel like home.
Sounds like you need one of those off-site storage units. Do they have those in Spain?
Shirley:
Oh, yeah, they have those storage units. Truth is, we don’t need one. We just need to get rid of more crap!
Why do you have to take the piano planks downstairs specifically between 7 and 10 at night — are you sneaking them into the dumpster like garbage contraband?
Debra:
Paper/cardboard and glass recycling can be brought down any time of day. Container recycling and regular trash can only be brought down between 7 and 10 p.m. Since I’m only taking down one or two boards at a time, I leave it alongside the dumpster. Someone always takes it home before the trash is picked up. If I make two trips downstairs, the first thing is often gone before my return.
And did you clarify with your doctor that his direct access and your direct access might be two different things? LMAO!!!!!
Mistress Borghese:
Some things should simply be taken for granted, don’t you think?
I had so much to say and then I saw that close-up of Dudo punim and I was done!!!
Oy, that face!
Bob:
I worship the ground Dudo walks on. And he knows it.
Great pic of His Supreme Kittiness…
wickedhamster:
He agrees.
Wow, that light fixture! That fountain! All of it! Thanks for giving us a new world to get to explore with you.
I’m so glad to hear about your nephrologist success! And all of the moving-in successes! Walt (the IVth) likes to say, Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid.… and, so, I’ve learned that expression from him, and think of it whenever I am dreading a long-haul chore (Little by little, the bird makes its nest.) It encourages me to remember that it’s okay to go one step at a time, and keep on at it. You two have made SO MUCH progress! I can’t wait to see the unveiling!
Oh, and don’t you just LOVE under-cabinet lighting?? I never had a new-to-me kitchen until we moved into this house, and had the kitchen all redone, and, so, put in under-cabinet lighting. I LOVE IT… every time I use it. It makes such a wonderful difference, in a space that I use so often. Great for you two!
Judy C:
The little frustrations persist, but progress is being made. The under-cabinet lighting’s movement sensor is like magic. SG has a cousin in Norway who always says TTT (which stands for Things Take Time), and she uses that whenever she’s taking her sweet time to get back to him about something.
I am so lucky to be able to live comfortably in a disorganization and clutter – in my room. The rest of the house if perfected by you know who. The under counter lighting is wonderful.
David:
SG can live amid the clutter up to a point. It makes me crazy. We usually have a rule that it can’t spread beyond his office, but that’s not possible right now.
A tidy room is a reflection of a tidy soul! 🤪
wickedhamster:
I agree, sort of. A tidy room makes my head a little more tidy. But I’ve been thinking: It’s either me or the house. I can’t keep both looking great every day.
Hah! Olivia
Olivia:
Or either apparently!
I can’t remember why you can only remove piano parts between 7 and 10 at night. It’s either a covert operation or the timeframe in which you can use the service elevator. Or maybe something else?
Kelly:
Here’s how I explained it to Debra She Who Seeks… Paper/cardboard and glass recycling can be brought down any time of day. Container recycling and regular trash can only be brought down between 7 and 10 p.m. Since I’m only taking down one or two boards at a time, I leave it alongside the dumpster. Someone always takes it home before the trash is picked up. If I make two trips downstairs, the first thing is often gone before my return.
You and SG are definitely making progress, even if you have to sneak out the piano planks at night, LOL!
Dudo looks like he’s channelling maximum brainpower to bend your will to his: bring me another treat… NOW!
Tundra Bunny:
Yes, that was Dudo’s look that said “Why are you taking my frickin’ picture when I want a treat?!?” I’ll just add my response to Debra here regarding the piano parts.
Your doc is nice AND hot, and he’s giving you personal one-on-one care?
Oh Mitchell, I’m very glad for you and quite envious.
Take care, and please pet your cat for me. I tried, but it’s not working very well from here.
Anon:
Both cats will be petted on your behalf.
It’s all coming together! And it’s always nice to have a hot doctor. Especially one you can e-mail directly.
When I read your blog, Google automatically translates the Spanish part to English. So I have your written English version, and then the Google-translated English version. It can be amusing to compare them. Google calls Dudo’s treats “appetizers.”
Steve:
That automatic translation would be entertaining. If I do an automatic translation of cat treats from English to Spanish, I get golosinas para gatos (candy for cats). I have had a few very hot doctors here. My neurologist who did my back surgery was so hot I didn’t know where to look when I talked to him.
It is encouraging to read that you are getting your medical items in order. My oncologist also told me to email him any time I had a question or concern. And he meant it as he answered all of my questions promptly. And he was easy on the eyes too! It sounds like your apartment is finally coming together!
Michael:
Still a bit stressed about the medical stuff, but it’s getting much better. The apartment is improving day by day. I even scrubbed the bathroom clean today. I had scrubbed my bathroom right after we moved in only to discover I couldn’t use it. So, I’ll need to dust it. We need to find a housekeeper!
I know that feeling of having to get things DONE and in order before you can get on with life. And it does take time. But you are moving along and far more quickly than you may realize. Crossing off those to-do lists and eventually, you will be out and about and the office will be an office and the furniture will be as it should be and you have a good-looking, very approachable (shall we say?) doctor. It’s a lot.
Also- Dudo to remind you of what is important. Him, of course.
Beautiful photos.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon:
I think we’re very similar (obviously in many ways) when it comes to measuring our days by how much we get done and needing things in order. Dudo and I had a standoff today. He demanded a treat at 2:15. He got it. Then he wanted another at 3:15. I made him wait until 4:30! Score one for me. Well, sort of. They’re supposed to get treats every 3 hours.
The church and the motorcycles. Great contrast.
Kirk:
Yes, I loved that set-up.
All docs is quacks.
Urspo:
So I’ve been told.
