Sorry it took me a while to let you know I arrived home safe and sound. I left my hotel Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and arrived at my door Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. Every phase of the trip went perfectly. All on time, all comfortable, all pleasant. We landed 30 minutes early in Barcelona. There’s usually a bit of a wait for luggage in Málaga. If your travel originated outside the European Union you have to pick up your bags at a separate, enclosed baggage claim. That usually takes a while. This time, I waited 5 minutes and mine was one of the first bags off. The train from Málaga was 50 minutes and plush. I even walked the 12 minutes home from the Córdoba train station rather than grab a taxi. Moving felt good. I have so much to share. So be prepared.
I kept deleting poor photos from my phone while I traveled and still had 489 to upload to my computer yesterday. I’ve deleted many more but there are so many I can’t bear to delete. Don’t worry, I won’t share them all. Well, maybe eventually. I only have 352 more to review.
The Kid Brother called via video while I was at JFK and we had a brief chat. I told him I would call him Thursday to let him know how the trip went; he beat me to it. Phone/video conversations with Chuck can be sparse (although he doesn’t shut up when we’re out walking). So two chats in two days after spending so much time with him during the week were a bit challenging. I feel obligated to fill the silences which I think is one of the reasons I tend to talk too much. When he was growing up, I was the entertainment. I suppose I still am.
I had a super walk to the East River and Brooklyn Bridge Park Tuesday afternoon. It was cold and windy (the Weather Channel warned of gale-force winds) and all I had was my wind-breaker/rain jacket over a sweater. I stopped at a cheapo cheapo shop along the way and bought a too-small polyester knit cap and an abundant polyester scarf which helped immensely. In total, I spent $11.98. I left them folded neatly in the hotel along with another $5 and a thank-you to Housekeeping.
Today, it’s just photos from the trip home, and that begins above in the men’s bathroom at Terminal 8 of John F. Kennedy International Airport. The Kid Brother would have preferred to see the F train.

• Acercándonos a Barcelona.

So glad it all went smoothly and cannot wait to wade through 400 or so pictures!!!
So few airports have an outdoor waiting area when you’re between flights and I hate feeling cooped up inside!
But then the smoking would have been a deal breaker!
Bienvenido a casa
Bob:
That outside waiting area looked so inviting. Too bad about the smoke.
Lovely view of the Sagrada Familia!
I, too, love that outdoor patio area at Barcelona airport – a proper bar with outside seating, and an opportunity to top-up on nicotine while waiting for a flight. Perfect! Jx
PS what strange murals at the loos in JFK…
Jon:
Oh, dear. I had to retrieve a few of your recent comments from spam. How rude! I’m glad Barcelona offers a nice spot for you as a smoker. Definitely not for me. I was surprised by the art in Terminal 8. The new look is all over silver and gray, so these huge splashes of color were a fun addition.
So glad to hear from you! Glad the travel went smoothly. Perhaps Chuck missed you? Olivia
Olivia:
Yep, Chuck clearly misses me. He’ll get back into his routine quickly.
Love the train mural and those ultra-vibrant Men’s and Women’s bathroom entrances! I bet your three boys were happy to have you home once more!
Debra:
SG and Moose showed their enthusiasm. Dudo gave me attitude for a couple of hours.
Welcome home and glad you had an uneventful return. I’d be interested in knowing what those colorful panels around the bathrooms are made of.
ellen abbott:
As for the wall panels, I’m out of my depth. I would assume they’re not made of plastics.
I’m glad you’re home after another successful journey. I wonder if the light level struck you when you approached Barcelona? And yes, pictures svp. Boud
Boud:
I hadn’t really thought about the light level. Just enjoyed the view and was so happy to see Spain.
You’re the entertainment for us, too! Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Michelle D:
Do you want me to sign the theme to Snuffy Smith?
The mural is beautiful!
Glad you’re back. And I feel you with the photos. Apple keeps telling me I need more space but I just deleted more.
XOXO
Sixpence
Sixpence:
Fortunately, I haven’t had any warnings from Apple or the Cloud.
Glad you’re home again, safe and sound, Scoot! Did Moose, Dudo & SG greet you with kisses? I bet they missed you.
Tundra Bunny:
Dudo gave me attitude. Moose only wanted to be cuddled. SG greeted me with kisses!
Welcome home, the photos will provide fodder for weeks to come. I am glad to hear the trip went well. The overnights can be difficult.
David Godfrey:
My jet lag is usually not as bad in this direction. I’m beat, but at least I can simply go back to bed now.
Back safe and sound!
Nice to hear all went smoothly. don’t hear that all too often.
LOVE the bold colours and designs at JFK.
Jim:
I liked the bold color added to the overall silver and gray terminal. I can’t remember the last time I had travel that went so smoothly.
Welcome home! I missed you.
Kelly:
Aw, thanks, Kelly. It sure is good to be back.
If you get a chance, look back at my post from Tuesday. I was pretty proud of getting that shot. 😊 🍁
Will do. I tried to catch up on all but have missed some.
I think we all missed you. I know I did. I would say “Welcome home!” but that sounds silly. I guess not if we are talking about our blog world. So yes, welcome home. Or back. Or whatever.
I bet SG was mighty glad to see you. Did he get the dishes washed?
Also, all bathrooms are going to appear boring after those two.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon:
Most of the dishes were washed and the house was in good order. But Merchi had been here to clean that day!
Another whirlwind trip. I bet you never been so happy to be back in Spain?
Mistress Borghese:
Oh, you are so right! Spain is home!
Great to hear from you! I’ve been checking frequently, especially wondering whether your departure flight from JFK might have been delayed, with all of the craziness. Were you flying Iberia, operated by American Airlines? (Also, sorry, because I’m sure you’ve told us this, but how long is the Barcelona-to-Málaga flight?)
Judy C:
I reserved through Iberia but ended up with Vueling (in Spain) and Level (crossing the Atlantic). I was very nervous when I realized I was on Level, but it was the best experience I’ve had in years. Barcelona to Málaga was about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Then 20 minutes to the train station and 50 minutes to Córdoba.
Some eye-catching rest rooms there!
Kirk:
I wonder how many people take pictures of and in the restrooms.
So happy you made it home safely, Scoot! I worry. Balder and I are flying to San Diego next Friday because my youngest niece is getting married. Not looking forward to the whole airport experience. I loathe flying and now I fear it too.
Deedles:
I hope your travel goes as smoothly and easily as all of mine did this time. And I hope you have a great time at the wedding.
Welcome back home! Looking forward to more photos!
Walt the Fourth:
It is so good to be back on Spanish soil (well, mud, it rained all day and night).
Good to know that you got home safely.
Did you need sunglasses for those toilets ( restrooms)? Definitely different!!
Frances
Frances:
Thanks. I loved the “toilet art.” I respectfully waited for one guy to finish peeing before I took a picture of the train art.
Welcome home! Can’t wait to see your pictures! I remember that view of Barcelona and I can see La Sagrada Familia very well. I love the brightly colored entrances to the bathrooms, but I’m glad you didn’t get arrested taking pictures into the women’s room. 🙂
Steve:
Oh, yes. I made sure there were no women around when I took that very quick photo!
Dear me! What colorful bathrooms!
Urspo:
They’re new at Terminal 8.
